Default Why blue screen with Samsung DVD-1080p7?

Hi.

I bought a Samsung LNT-4061F LCD 2 months ago and it came with a "free" Samsung upconverting DVD player, model DVD-1080p7. The DVD player is hooked up to the TV with a 6' HDMI cable bought from monoprice.com.

The problem I have is that pretty much every time I watch a DVD, I will have to suffer 4-5 "blue screens" that last 1-2 seconds each. Those "blue screens" can happen any time during the movie. It is not dramatic but it is annoying.

This happens with new DVD, rentals, copies...

So far, I:

- read the manual;
- searched the net;
- checked the DVD player firmware (it is up to date);
- tried with another HDMI cable;
- tried with a different HDMI port on the TV;

all of this, with no success.

It seems the only option left to me is to contact Samsung tech support and, for some strange reason, it's something I'd prefer not to go through.

Anyone here has the same issue or has an idea on how to solve this problem?

Thanks

Certainly sounds like a handshake issue of some sort. I would have suspected the cable, but you say you've tried another. Try unplugging and replugging the cable a few times at both ends to ensure a good electrical/mechanical connection. If that doesn't solve the problem, then you may need to call Samsung - they may have updated firmware on either the TV or the DVD player. See:

What output resolution have you selected in the DVD player? 1080P? Have you gone through the various setup options on the DVD player to ensure that they're all properly selected?
