are the PS3 versions sold in the USA the same as Canadian versions?

I am thinking of picking one up in Delaware, as there are no sales tax in that state...

I've not heard of any differences. I don't know how border duty will apply to a game console, but there's a thread that discusses those issues:

Shouldn't be any different than any other crossing...$250 exemption for 48 hour stayover, $750 exemption for a one week stay.

I work in the Delaware during the week and come back to Toronto on the weekend.. Monday to Thursday in the States.
When I decide to buy the PS3, I'll just stay over the weekend....come back the following week, thus I get the $750 exemption...

So for $599 USD I can get the 60G version...

at the current exchange rate...$599*1.15 = $690..

In Canada, if i buy it at Futureshop or similar, its $699*1.14(GST/PST)=$796

Don't you have to pay taxes on stuff coming back across the border? Not sure how that works myself.

You don't pay taxes as long as the full amount of the goods are covered by the exemption.
