From Telus site

Quote:
TELUS Mobility's Wireless High Speed (EVDO) network is the latest evolution of North America's leading digital technology standard: CDMA. Wireless High Speed is a highly efficient data network that allows Internet access at average download speeds of 400-700 kilobits per second, which is comparable to wireline high speed technology.
EVDO stands for Evolution-Data Optimized and basically it means higher speeds for wireless data transmission.

This won't make any difference for phone calls but if you have a wireless modem hooked up to your laptop, you'll get much faster downloads or if your phone has video and audio capabilities, you'll get the video and music and video faster.

If your internet connections consist of only dial-up or satellite you can buy an AirCard and get fairly decent transfer speed, providing you have cell coverage at your home. 1X is still better than dial-up and if you have EVDO Rev A you can get really good transfer speeds. The plan is between $75 and $100/month (depending on where you live!).

I just got setup and so far so good. 2199kbps down and 315kbps up on average.
