Default Toshiba 1080p - 56HM195, 62MX195, 72MX195 end of Oct

Guys... There are several threads for different sizes of the new Tosh 1080p's... trying to consolidate into one:

Toshiba rep confirmed today that in Canada we will see the new 1080p's at end of October. We are getting 56HM195, 62MX195, 72MX195.

The 56HM195 is a lower spec than the 56MX195 available in the USA (both are available in the USA). This is either good news if you are looking for low cost 1080p or bad news if you want best possible 1080p in 56 screen size.

Here's some links:

Is it just cosmetics ?

Best I can tell MX gives the following upgrades:

high-gloss black bezel
standard PC input
Ethernet jack for accessing MP3s and digital photos from a PC
custom color adjustment

THis is definitely BAD news, as I want the 56" model in MX not the dumbed down HM.

Why are we in Canada always stuck with less choices?

Presumably economics. If both models were stocked it would be six models. This way there's only three. Not enough volume in Canada to stock all six. My guess is the rationale was people are buying 56" to save money therfore go with lower cost HM in Canada.

Not sure I agree with this reasoning... most people willing to spend this much on a high-end TV are not going to strip out features to a save a few hundred dollars.

Exclamation 72MX195 Owner's Manual

This manual is a first draft.

Not everything in this manual is correct.

From reading in another forum, from somebody who actually bought a 1080p (not sure if it is a MX or HM)... Custom color adjustment are not in the menu.

Cool Toshiba Prices

Just a guesstimate on the price you can expect to pay for a 72MX195...

Last year, in october, I went to an independent store where they sell high-end HiFi.

They had just received their first 62HM84. I asked the price, but never negotiated. They gave me a business card with the price they had told me on it. I never asked for a written price. I'm not one of their regular customers.

The price was discounted more than 15%.

If you have no such store in your area, you can always wait for a "We pay both taxes" sales event at a selected furniture store near you. In Quebec, this is about 15%.

Anyway, if you do your homework, you should be able to get 15%. For the 72MX195, that would be around $5000.

To those who think this is impossible on such a short supply high-end TV...

Last year, the 62HM84 was the short supply high-end TV, and the 72HM195 is already posted at a 25% discount from a realiable store on the Internet (in the US). That's over $1000US! So, we can get $1000Canadian on a higher priced model... Can't we?

Let us know how it compares with the 52HMX85. Is your store a Future Shop or any of the big ones? Also, how much are they asking for the 56HM195?

If it's a specialty store can you ask if there's any way they can order the 56HMX195?

Also curious on thier pricing?
