Anyone have any idea when the A10 series of Grand Wega TVs will be available in Canada? Looks like the 50" is available in the US, with the 42" available shortly...

Yeah, that MSRP is pretty crazy considering the exchange rate these days. People in the US seem to be getting 50" sets for $2300 tax and delivery included.
It would really suck if Sony decides to sell a unit with LESS parts for MORE money in Canada. If so, looks like there may be a trip to Buffalo in my future... |

Just remember the initial press release MRSP in the US for the 50 inch was 2799 and they dropped it to 2499 MSRP once they were available. Just have to hope that by the time they are available they do the same for Canada. These prices were given to me over 2 months ago now, so chances are they will drop when its released. Unfortunately the sony rep has no new information yet but unless Sony drops it to $2799cdn msrp it will be better to get from the states even for people that can buy at dealer cost. I can bring one back for $2300cdn + shipping + gst from us today at my dealer cost.
Dont worry about cablecard slot it is not implemented for rogers or shaw at least not version 1. They are waiting on the version 2 which can communcate 2 way. |

I can confirm that Bestbuy hasn't updated their systems yet either (makes sense considering futureshop and bestbuy are really the same company).
I just returned my Toshbia 44NHM84 last weekend and when I was talking to the store manager about why (rainbows and a bunch of other issues), he looked up the E42A10 and had it at 3199. I told him about the drop and of course he didn't believe me (not that I was asking for it at that price, just that I knew of a drop in the msrp), but we'll see when they do get the set in and have it on sale for less than 2599 (to keep bestbuy's lowest price policy) lol EDIT: I should add that I was also by a Sony Store so I dropped by and they told me the 2599 msrp, as well as that the a10's should be available around the 2nd week of September. |

hey, Sony Store in Ottawa said $2699.99 for the 42inch a10 ( KDF-E42A10 )and 2-3 weeks before it comes in. No "promotions" yet but he said if I go for the 4 year extended warranty he'll throw in free shipping and $200 off the price.
Hopefully the deals keep dropping the price. |

Does anybody know if this new set will include the atsc tuner in Canada. We are sure getting ripped off with all the stations available in the GTA. US sets all seem to have it now.

Just a thought...
I'm wondering, with all of us waiting for the A10's--most of who, seem ready to buy--if we could score a better price. I notice there are a few people in this thread in the Toronto area, and I'm from London. I wonder if we called one particular spot and said 'hey, we can gurantee a sale of 3-4 A10's in one day what can you do for us?'. I would think, especially in those places that work on commission, that someone would want to jump all over that and go as low as they could. Of course it would have to be a chain so that those not directly in the area could return it to a local store should problems arise. I know I would make the trip to TO if there was a significant deal. ...of course, just a thought. JASON |

You can count me in for pooling some people together for some a10's. I'm interested in the 42inch a10 ( KDF-E42A10 ) but I'm sure they wouldn't care about what type is going out the door.
Getting that deal would be best at The Sony Store maybe because they would ship anywhere in Canada? Then it wouldn't matter if our buying pool was from all over Ontario. I am really interested currently in their 4-year extended warranty so that's why I'd like to buy it there. I know they also deal in price. Does anyone have any leads or friends that could help us accomplish this? Or can anyone working in electronics stores hint about what you would do if a group wanted to buy 5-10 TV's? Would we save much or would you just tell us to take a hike?!? |

Sony store in Oshawa Shopping Centre has 42" A10 on display and a 50" (boxed) unit about to be moved in to a vacant spot in the large screen display room.

However, the salesman indicated that they were ready to install the 50A10 into the vacant spot, so I would guess that this will have been done by now. You could call the store at (905) 571-7009 if you want to check. |
