Apparently this just started yesterday (Mar.9th) and appears to be a quasi-global problem with Yahoo. It hit me today. Tried various config changes but no luck. Thunderbird can still receive email okay, so far. I can still send email with other clients, and with Rogers browser mail of course.
Rogers has received numerous calls but will not investigate -- according to the grunt I spoke with he said their contracts with Mozilla were not renewed a few months ago so they have completely washed their hands of providing any Mozilla support whatsoever. There are reports elsewhere with people having similar issues. |

There's a section in Yahoo Help:
http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?local...pressions=true Troubleshooting tips If you still can’t send Yahoo! Mail from Thunderbird, you might be accessing the Internet through an ISP that is blocking the SMTP port . If this is the case, try using port 587 when sending email via Yahoo!'s SMTP server. To make this change: From the Tools menu, select Account Settings. The Account Settings dialog box opens. In the left column of the Account Settings dialog box, scroll down to the bottom and select Outgoing Server (SMTP). In the right half of the pane, select the Yahoo! Mail SMTP server. Click Edit. The SMTP Server dialog box appears. In the SMTP Server dialog box, under Settings, change the Port value to 587. Click OK to save your changes. Hope that helps!

I started to have the same problem since late yesterday March 9. To receive email is OK but to send gives me the possible abuse message.
To send email I have to use Outlook as a Win7 user |

I just noticed this same problem today with Rogers email. I'm using Thunderbird 10.0.2 and don't really want to give that up. Up till today, it's been working fine for years.
I worked for hours trying to fix this but to no avail. I phoned Rogers tech support a couple of times but they were not particularly helpful. One thing I read elsewhere and verified: I can send from my rogers accounts if the message itself is plain text, not html. Not good, but it's a start. I've also noticed some other anomalies today. I can no longer send emails (plain text or html) from Thunderbird using my gmail accounts rather than my rogers accounts. This is a rather frustrating situation. Jerry |

What SMTP server are you guys using? I just sent myself an e-mail (using the latest version of Thunderbird) to an Hotmail account I use as a junk account and it worked fine. I also sent a few e-mails to a friend with a Gmail account earlier today.

Michael
I am using smtp.broadband.rogers.com with port 25. Were the emails you sent html or plain text messages? |

We had this problem this afternoon. T'bird 10.02 and Rogers. Switching to text format mail rather than HTML format cleared it up.
Gmail was not affected. |

I live in London ontario and just talked to a Rogers guy who als made me change port value 25 to 587, but it doesn't work as well. We need a fix from Mozilla.
