Default Windows 8 Consumer Preview

Well I like Windows 8 this time. DP was meh but this seems more polished.
I think I'm going to upgrade my main computer at home that the family uses and all use our live IDs to connect to it!

One issue I just discovered that the LIVE ID stuff like with Xbox does not work in Canada as of yet. Either that or I have a messed up install.

** Oh. Scratch that is just started working LOL!

Going to try this on my Elitebook 2730p convertible tablet PC. Hopefully it will install on this machine (unlike the developer preview). Looks like this download may take a while though.

On my antique it is the "checking the download" which I suspect entails unpacking 2+Gb of compressed file that is taking forever.

But it is progressing (44%) so I am not worried

I don't much like the way this installer works. I just wanted to download an ISO to do a dual boot install. This is acting like it wants to upgrade my Win7 install. That's NOT going to happen if I can help it.

*UPDATE* Found the ISO here.

*UPDATE* The installer can create a DVD ISO or bootable flash drive if 'Install to Another Partition' is chosen.

4 hours later. It unpacked the files and has now been installing for 3+ hours. It is at 67% . I should have downloaded the ISO rather than use the installer. Whatever...I'll let it run to completion.
