I got four diffirent tv each differently wired to four different *C receiver and here the facts that bug me a little:
1° I got an JVC 48"HD-TV wired by component to a DSR500: the HD image is wonderful sometime twice as good as a dvd. But when I watch standard channel, it is very fuzzy or not clear, why? 2° My 27" JVC is wired by S-Video to an 401 model and all channel are twice as clear as standard channel on my 48"HD-TV. So I think that the Tv might be the problem. HD material goes with HD component and the same is also true for standard material some would said. I would answer that the DSR500 is a very good working receiver but buy it for HD brocasting, not standard to anwser gmd post. What is the chroma bug and what is also the lockup problem with the DSR500, you might answer that if I don't know the anwser it is because I did not have the problem, but I'd like to know? I would like to solve the problem with standard channel on my HD tv, any suggestion? Kuschall

My DSR500 is connected with a 36 " Sony XBR, component only and the image is stunning on all channeles. TMN for example looks close to the HD channels, ( not as crisp however as expected ). The image in all SD channels is far improved from my old 401 (Svideo connection). The PQ on SD however depends of the initial recording (old analog tape based movies can not look so good), and also depends of the channel broadcast and compression ratio, so not all the channels are the same. The movie channels are probably the best from all SD in picture quality.
Remember also not all TV are the same, I think Sony XBRs have one of the best DSP scaler chips around , give it a good qulity signal and get a stunning quality output. ( speak about SD of course). |
