Default EastLink to launch AWS network in NS and PEI in 2012

Quote:
Well, it took a bit longer than expected but the competition will be dramatically increasing out East next year. EastLink has officially announced they’ll launch their wireless service in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, putting the pressure on Rogers, Bell and TELUS and their sub-brands (Virgin, Koodo and Fido).
Good news for Atlantic residents. For those unaware, EastLink's network will operate on the same frequencies as Wind, Mobilicity, and Videotron, and will likely offer a similar set of devices. With Wind also expected to launch service in Atlantic Canada in 2012, competition will likely be fierce, which should translate to good value for Atlantic residents.

Exact coverage, rates, and device information will likely not be finalized until service is close to launch, for competitive reasons.

Another thing that was mentioned in my morning paper(The Chronicle Herald) today is that Eastlink will be the first provider in my area to offer a "quad-play" bundle, in other words, TV, Internet, land line, and cell all bundled into one package. This sounds good, especially if decent pricing deals are offered.

Also, the article on my paper emphasized that the network is being optimized for data.

The west will depend on Shaw to give us the "quad-play" if Shaw goes on wireless

I hope Eastlink do a better job with this! They also were to supply highspeed broadband internet for ALL nova scotians which they haven't done! Hope the government isn't giving them another bunch of funds for nothing.
