By the specks and pictures it really looks like the Elite VSX 33 , maybe its renamed 1325 to be a exclusive futureshop model , but still a great unit . IMO it`s not the kinda of receiver that i would put in my bedroom , but with a better use of it .

The 1325 have a much more accurate Advanced MCACC compared to the VSX-84.

Default New receiver advise

I`m looking for a new receiver and currently looking at the Pioneer VSX-1325-K. After doing a lot of research online I have come to the conclusion that this is a very good receiver. My primary use for it is to watch movies. My questions is there something out there that would be better. I would like to stay under 2k but don`t want to pay twice the amount as the VSX-1325-K for something that`s going to sound the same to the average person. I just don`t want to by it and find out after that there was a much better receiver out there then I end up regretting my purchase. Others I looked at were the higher end Pioneer but what more would I get for such a higher price.PS if you do end up suggesting another receiver please indicate what the advantages would be. Thanks

Visit your local Anthem dealer to demo the MRX series

agreed. I'm using Pioneer SC-25 as my main receiver and did a magazine review on MRX-500/700. The room correction on the MRX-500/700 blew the MCACC on the Pioneer (and I never liked YPAO and Audyssey). If the budget is there, get the MRX-500 (in terms of sound quality due to the very advanced room correction).

If you need a receiver with kick butt scaling capability, however, stick with the 1325 (Marvell Qdeo Kyoto2 with Pioneer PureVision i/p converter)

IMO, the main things to consider are:
- does the receiver have the features you want/need (auto-EQ, audio processing options, 3D capability, etc.)?
- does the receiver have the connectivity you want/need (# of HDMI, USB, analogue pre-inputs, pre-outputs, multiple zones, etc.)?
- does the receiver have the power you want/need to drive the speakers you have in your HT space (per-channel rating with 2/5/7 channels driven, etc.)?

If it has all three, you're set. If it's missing one of the three, you may want to look for something else.

--------------------------------
Note: Given that the VSX-1325 has pre-outputs, should you ever become unsatisfied with its abilities to power your speakers, you can always hook it up to a new or gently-used power amp, such as an Emotiva UPA-5 or -7, or XPA-3 or -5.
