Some friends and I caught the show last night at Scotiabank Place here in Ottawa. We had good seats for what was a most excellent bit of rock 'n' roll theatre:
- great music (the entire "Wall" album, of course); - stunning visuals provided by an impressive projection system that could handle any combination of images (moving and still) on any scale (the entire wall or any part(s) of it) at a brick-by-brick level (and there were well over two hundred bricks in the wall); and - some cool props, too. The only cons, and they are very minor: - Watching RW shuffle/dance like an old white guy at the front of the stage, when he should have been standing further back with the rest of the band. (Yes, I know, it's his show.) - The distortion effect used by the guitarist. It added a bit of "dirtiness" to what should have been a clean, Gilmour-esque sound. That being said, the guitarist was very good and, aside from a bit of restrained wanking at the end of a couple of songs, he thankfully stayed true to the original licks. All in all, a terrific show, well worth catching...if you can.

Wish I could have afforded seats...
I hope Waters releases a nice BD of one of the tour stops! |

I recall seeing a similar production years ago on TV. I believe it was around the time of the Fall of the Berlin Wall, 21 years ago. It's funny you mention this since I listened to my cassette tape of The Wall, recorded from Vinyl 30 years ago in 1980, just this week - first time in probably 5 years. Sounded very good indeed and not much different from a CD borrowed from a friend over the weekend.

I've heard nothing but good things as well. I've got row 20 on the floor for the upcoming Vancouver show. Thanks for the review.

I think I will order the SACD of Dark Side of the Moon. I have one of the old PS3s that still does "everything"
For those interested, the entire concert from Sunday in Ottawa is up on Youtube. Watched it last night. |
