Default 'Star Wars Collection' Planned for Blu-ray Release in September 2011!

George Lucas has confirmed that all six films will be coming to Blu-ray in a boxed set in the fall of next year!

At Celebration V in Orlando, Lucas announced that the 'Star Wars Collection' is finally in the works for Blu-ray.

I wonder if George will improve the sound of the first movie. The remaining 5 movies have great sound, but the first one (even the 1997 SE) version sounds tinny and not as full sounding as the newer movies. The picture quality was excellent even on DVD, but the sound was lacking--I guess the reason for poor sound was the tight budget that the first one was made under.

I hope that Emperor Lucatine restores the "Han shot first" scene!

and hopefully he fixes the lightsabers in the first movie, it seems easy enough, i've no idea why he didn't do it for the SE's.

I hear that Han and Greedo play rock-paper-scissors...but Han does "throw" first.

I'm afraid the HSF faithful will be disappointed.

I loved some of the comments about this on /.

Six films? That's impossible - only three Star Wars films were ever made.

These aren't the prequels you're looking for...

HA!

Well atleast they'll be releasing the original 3 alone as well for those who are traditionalists.

I will be getting all six however

I'd be happy if they removed Lucas' CGI graffitti inserted into the original 3.

I think the Special Editions were extended. They are not the original three which will tick off the purists.

I'm not a hard core fan so i won't notice.

Goth my copy of the complete saga at Walmart this morning. No copies were left at the front of the store and only 6 were remaining in the dvd section at 10am.

Dropped by FS after work and picked up the trilogy sets. Now settling in for some Star Wars movie-watching goodness!

Lined up this morning for the bonus extras Future Shop was offering. Got my lithographs and the mini Lightsabre (6 inches long and lights up). Also had a crack at the full size light sabre. 1 in 5 chance....I didn't win but one guy went home happy. Here is a question for buyers:
The English audio is stated to be 6.1 DTS Master audio. There are also Dolby 5.1 tracks with descriptive video and other languages but as far as I can tell no Dolby 5.1 English without descriptive video. Does this mean I will always hear the descriptive narration if I don't have a DTS decoder. My player is a Playstation 3. Please let me know your experience with these disks. I haven't opened mine yet and don't want to upgrade my entire sound system just for one movie.
