comsumers should immediately contact Maytag Corporation toll free at:
1-800-544-5513 or visit the recall web site at www.repair.maytag.com
they offer free repair to the fault or a rebate of $150.00 for the purchase of a new model MDB7609 or $250.00 or the purchase of a MDB8959 or MDB7809
of cause they are maytag models.

unfortunately I have one myself, purchased 2 and a half years ago. by chance it died ( no panel lights and touch panel will not work) the day just before the recall notice is published in the morning sun . may or may not be connected to the heater element fault. We have to decide which offer to take. take he rebate and get another maytag?, or get the element fault taken care of and may still have a dead dishwasher (Canadian warranty is only 12 month). After Whirlpool purchased Maytag, the lonely maytag repairman died from over working!

It's recalls like this that cause me to lose trust in the mainstream appliance brands.

I bought a Miele dishwasher last year (mainly because I needed an 18" wide model) and will be looking at Bosch, Miele or Asko for my laundry appliances when I need to change those.

sebberry, I bought a Miele dishwasher six years ago. Guess what? It had a defective circuit board that was a fire hazard and a recall was issued.

tseto, take the repair. If it doesn't fix the problem then take the rebate. I doubt they will argue as they don't need more issues.
