Not a big deal for me, since it will be at least a year before I get a 3D TV.

In most press releases I've read about the PS3's 3D capability, they've all been very carefully worded to indicate that it's compatible with Sony Bravia 3DTVs. Now I'm not sure if this is just a Sony marketing ploy to get people to buy Bravia TVs, or if in fact it's ONLY compatible with Bravia 3D sets.

Does anyone know for sure?

And just to clarify, I believe this is a games-only 3D update; Blu-Ray 3D compatibility is still forthcoming.

From what I understand all 3D Blu-ray players will work with all 3D Sets.

The only thing that is not inoperable are the glasses so you must have Sony glasses with a Sony 3D set, samsung glasses with a samsung 3D set and so on.

The output format of the PS3's 3D still hasn't been made public. It is unsure if it will output the checkerboard format required by 3D ready DLP sets made my Samsung and Mitsubishi.

I thought you needed HDMI 1.4 for 3D?

No 3D will work just fine with HDMI 1.3 or what they are now calling "High speed HDMI"
