The Google Chrome web browser gained market share for the seventeenth month in a row according to recent figures published by NetMarketshare.

Interesting that Internet Explorer is now down to 60% share, Firefox seems to have stalled around 23-24% with Chrome and Safari gaining. Opera seems stalled at just under 2.5%.

Internet Explorer is only at 60%? Funny, because all the computer illiterate people I know still aren't aware any alternative exists - and I'd imagine that would make up the majority of basic home users (as well as businesses still running IE6

)

That 60% is down from 85 or 90% just a few years ago though. The truth is most people don't know or don't care to know about what alternatives exist.

Gee I wonder if IE's market share has something to do with the fact that it is pre-installed on virtually every PC sold to the general public. ;-)

I've always been wondering what the hell the problem some people have with IE is. Are peace and harmony coming to the world once its share drops below 50%? Or something else beautiful will happen that I'm not aware of? Assuming you are still obssessed with the unconditional Microsoft hatred from your high school years, aren't you afraid that you still care about this freeware non-issue long after Microsoft has stopped?
Or maybe Firefox makes you a better man, and Chrome - Superman?

Arthur, why are you bullying people? Just because people think IE is a lousy product doesn't mean they have a "hatred for Microsoft."

I was a big fan of Microsoft for many years and have nothing against the company today but frankly their web browser stunk.

When I stopped using IE, it had too many security issues, did not have tabs any other features I wanted and it was too slow.

My decision to switch to Firefox and subsequently Chrome and Opera was an objective decision. My switch from Firefox came after Firefox kept crashing and seemed to be getting very slow with every new edition.

I still use IE for Windows Update and for some site related things but I still find it much slower to load and it still mysteriously crashes on me thus I am an ardent supporter or Opera and Chrome.
