Default Is it worth it?

Is the Energy ESW V8 worth it for ~$225? I know that HSU and SVS make well regarded subs but for a small room the Energy might be a good buy. Also does anyone know of the Premier Acoustics PA120 sub. It is supposed to be a great bang for the buck sub on par with the BIC H-100 sub here is the link ( btw the it is available for much less than the msrp)

If it's as well-engineered as Energy's premium series of 10" subs (the S10.3 and its successor, the ESW-V10), the ESW-V8 is most likely a good 8" subwoofer. $225 seems like a pretty reasonable price for it, too. So, in that respect, it's probably "worth it".

Whether it's the right sub for you, however, will depend on how small a room you're putting it into and on what kind of performance you're expecting to get out of it.

yeah the room is about 1500 cubic ft and I do about 80% ht and about 20% music so one that is good for ht.

In that case, my suggestions are:
- buy the S10.3 that's for sale on CanuckAudioMart.com (assuming, of course, that it's in 100% working condition, and that you live in the area and don't have to have it shipped); or
- wait for a F.S. sale on the ESW-V10 (which, in the recent past, has been listed for less than half its current retail price).

Thanks for the advice eljay,

I might be able to get Esw v10 for around $450 and that seems to be the price where it has value certainly not at $929 which is what FS has it for now. If my budget allowed I probably would have gone for the SVS pb10, oh well

That's a pretty good price. And I think you'll enjoy it a lot more than the ESW-V8.
