California based Yamaha Electronics Corporation, last week introduced a new line of budget and entry audio/video receivers which includes the RX-V665, the successor to the RX-V663, the industry's best selling A/V receiver in 2008.
U.S. Pricing. No word on Canada yet. Link to Yamaha U.S site with listing of all Yamaha receivers for those looking for details on each unit.

I am really interested to hear an estimation on when these will come out in Canada, because I would definatly pick up one of these to replace my older yamaha receiver on my home theatre.

I emailed Yamaha and they said they will most likely be released in Canada in April.

but the first one I was actually able to see in store and purchase was the first week June. Most every dealer wont order any, even on special order till thier current stock is sold off. They were just unpacking it for display when I went into the store saw it and said don't bother to unpack it because that's what I am here for. |

The lack of HDMI inputs is what made me hold off the 663.
4 inputs on the 665 may make me pull the trigger when it's released. |

I had no idea till now that the 663 was the top seller of all. Makes me feel good about my research/choice.

Traditionally Yamaha had not focused on music that much with their AVRs. However the 663 blows many competitors for processing and playing HD audio and standard DVDs so well. I thinking of picking this up when I set up my system in newly finished basement. I heard Onkyo, Pio, Denon and the Yamaha. The Yammy definitely sounded the best paired with B&W 605s.

I was at Future Shop tonight and they are starting to get rid of the 6160s. There are only a few left here in Calgary according to the store manager so they are starting to get rid of floor models....
