last winter in naples I lost approx. 1/3 of my channels and could not get anything on transponder 11 and several others anyone have any ideas on what is wrong. It had worked fine for the previous five years.
It is illegal to have a Bell ExpressVu account active in Naples, FL. It may be technically feasible; but neither your nor ExpressVu ought to condone, encourage or support such activity.
When in Naples, do what the Romans do: subscribe to DirectTV. Or something like that.
I think we go through this lots but what law of whose does hibee break.
China has a law that you can't badmouth the chairman but we let that one slide.
Yes, you have the wrong provider. If you want Canadian tv in the southern US or Mexico, the only choice is Star Choice as you are out of the footprint of 2 old DTV reject satellites used by Bell.
I can only think it was a footprint issue, the birds Bell are using are pretty old and getting weaker almost by the minute, so it could be they have tightened up the signals floating down to Florida.
Try a bigger Dish, that should help.
I was chatting to a couple tonight that use a 90cm Dish in Florida. They have used this for many years and don't know if they have seen a drop in signal strength or not.
If you call for a troubleshooting Bell Express Vu sayying you are in the USA Bell Express Vu will immediatly shut it down, and if it's the only receiver you have, shut down you account. If you had a contract early termination fee will apply
Thanks for the input I was not aware that it was illegal to use VU in Florida. I have decided to put it on vacation when I leave and pick up a US provider when I am down there. Thanks again.
It isn't, in the legal sense, as indicated in the other thread (link in post 7). However, if BEV knows, they apparently will shut you down.
In Canada, it is illegal for an individual to subscribe to DirecTV and Dish. In the US, no such equivalent law exists.
It is illegal for the Canadian Service provider to knowingly supply signals to someone in the US - note the difference - the onus being on the corporation, not the individual.
You signed and agree that the service was being used in Canada (read your contract), if they find you guilty of not following the policy I only find it normal that they would charge you the early termination fee. Same applies to an account that has been disconnected for non payent before the end of the contract. He gets early termination fee.
If he calls to cancel his account there is a 30 days notice, since the client has been with Express Vu for 6 years is contract is over, and he won't pay any penalty
If he calls for troubleshooting stating that he is in the States we will terminate his service immediatly and since he has not contract will only get his final bill
Do we seriously think he's worried about $50 and how likely is he to resign with a corporate policy that clearly doesn't respect the loyalty he has shown Bev for 6 years, when he can get the other Canadian provider with such little hassle and a signal that actually works down there.
If people can mess with you by using your own policies against you, then IMHO, the policies are not very well thought out, are inconsistent and clearly not in the customers best interests.

I was just mentionning it to him, for him not to be surprised if it happens... It doesn't matter how long he has been with the caompagny, how many receiver he has, or howmuch he spends monthly. The policies are there for everybody!
What would tell a cop that stops you because you drive a bit too fast? Would you tell him:"But sir I have my licence for oven ten year now and never had an accident, I tink you should waive that ticket"? And then maybe add:"But sir I just bought a BMW, invested lots of money in buying that super sound system..." I don't think so... Same applies to Express Vu service
So if you ever want to leave just say your watching in Florida an you save the 30 day notice!
I personally do not see any trouble with a person taking his dish to Florida and watching TV that he is paying for. As far as I know, and I don't think I am an expert by any means, it is illegal for BEV to sell programming to Americans and DN to sell to Canadians. As I see it, this is mainly due to an out of touch, outdated CRTC and a satellite provider terrified of true American programming. I know RV'ers that take their dishes with them all over the US and continue to enjoy their subscription - they are Canadians paying for a Canadian service. Bell has got bigger problems that worrying about where their paying customers are viewing from.
To quote Ralf Klein, " Shoot, Shovel and Shut UP " totally different topic, the anology is just the same. Shut up and do it, who cares what Agent Express Vu thinks, this topic has been discussed till its death. "Just do it", to quote another company. Enough said.........lol
Lets face it we install about 30 or 40 Dish Network or DirecTv systems every year in Ontario, through Express Vu.... It is Express Vu that pay our invoices to install this stuff so why not take your own Dish South, go for it, I would.
By the way I never said what I think about the rule...I just stated it and stated the compagny's postion towards having Express Vu in the USA. I never made any comment on what I think about it. Your statement doesn't therefore make sense...
