"Homeland is an upcoming American psychological thriller television series created by Howard Gordon, Alex Gansa and Gideon Raff. The series stars Claire Danes as Carrie Anderson, a CIA operations officer who has come to believe that an American Marine, who was held captive by Al-Qaeda as a prisoner of war, was turned by the enemy and now poses a significant risk to national security.
The series will be broadcast in the United States on the cable channel Showtime, and is produced by Fox 21. It is due to premiere on October 2, 2011."
Could be interesting. Showtime had a show a few year back called "Sleeper Cell" that I believe had a similar theme. I never did see it but I remember being interested in it at the time.
Sounds like "The Manchurian Candidate"... unless the Laurence Harvey analogue is fully aware of his mission on behalf of his former captors.
I'll give it a look if/when it shows up here.
hi everyone I came here looking for info b'cuz we watched the first ep on Showtimes website and it looks great. But we dont have Sho on our U.S. TV so we need TMN to show this! I just looked at TMN's website but didn't see it. Has anyone heard anything??
hey mike10 thats good news. When MC gets something so does TMN right? Or maybe not always? Has anyone heard anything right from TMN? They have other Showtime shows like Dexter so they should have this I hope!
If you look at the Movie Central schedule, Homeland is nowhere to be seen in the month of October, while it debuts Oct 2nd on Showtime, so it's definitely not being shown at the same time as it is in the USA.
Awesome. Perhaps a hint that the rumored "Showtime Canada" will come to us via Super Channel. The need it - a lot of their good series will dissapear with the launch of FX Canada.
I am not really surprised by this it seems like move central and TMN have been passing on almost every new showtime series that is not actually owned by the network
My *guess* is that Homeland will air at 10:00pm Eastern and again at 2:00am on Super Channel 2. Kidnap & Ransom ends its run on October 25th in that timeslot.
I was getting some of the pvr back log clear and I watched the first 2 eps of Homeland, and I think I will stick with it. The show is more slow paced then say strike back but so far so good. Its also nice to see Mandy Patinkin. Ive missed him ot tv ever since he left criminal minds.
I just watched the pilot. With Breaking Bad now gone for a while, and no Mad Men for a while, I think Homeland will be fulfill my "quality drama" void.
Solid cast, interesting characters, intriguing plot --> I'll hang around.
After I watched the pilot I watched the preview for whats instore for this season. I must say wow this show looks great. I will for sure be watching the whole season.
Since I don't get SuperChannel on Videotron, I haven't been able to watch anymore than the first episode. I guess it has been popular though as it already been renewed for next year.
Can't believe no one is talking about this show. One of my favorites this TV Season. The last episode was great. I suggest you find a way to watch this show.
Agreed! With Breaking Bad gone for a while, this is now the best drama on TV (albeit, kinda hard to find in Canada).
In his inimitable way, Bill Simmons posted a recap of last week's episode (Episode 7 - the one at the cabin).
Some nice twists and turns the last couple of episodes; I just hope they have an end game in mind and don't go "The Killing" on us.
I have trepidation because the principles behind the show are from "24" - which was brutal for just making crap up as they went along, hoping it'd all make sense at the end (which it never did).
