Sure beats taking the receiver and tv up on the roof. My roof is on a slope and alignment by correct elevation number and skew is not that easy. |

Satellite Finder App for iPAD First my apologies if this has been covered elsewhere however after some searching I could not find anything. I am looking for an app for the iPAD that could be used to determine if I have a clean line of sight to the Bell ExpressVu satellites. The concept being it would superimpose the satellites on the screen image presented by the camera looking skyward. I have a location in the Midland Ontario area that I am very interested in switching from Rogers cable to Bell ExpressVu. Thanks, John |

| jdevlin | The guide all loads from the same place. The SD channels in the guide do not come from a different place than the HD channels. The actual channels come from different satellites but not the guide info. |

| jdevlin | If he is getting the guide it must be able to see the satellite. Could the trees have grown and be starting to block the signal? Maybe only when it is windy? |

Gents, Thanks for chiming in. My friend isn't at his Cabin very often so it's tough to get him to check things in a timely manner. (And again he's mechanical so he's like me to assist here as its "electrical".) As I said above: its 6-7 hour travel time each way depending on traffic, Ferries, etc., so I can't easily pop over to check things out. Can you give me your best guess if it's Dish alignment / hardware connections, or the receiver? He's planning to go up next week (with out of town family guests) and would buy a new receiver if that's the remedy. Any recommended vendors other than Visions in Metro Vancouver? (He doesn't like them.) Thanks for the assist. |

When he push guide button what channel group is showing? You can setup favorites lists and each push of the guide buttons cycles through the list. Make sure it show 'all' or 'all sub'. That would explain the guide. Channels can also be blocked out using the lock features. |

Is it a single receiver install or multiple ? Has he run a Check Switch ? What are signal levels on both Sats ? Have you checked the connections particularly outside, also check for damage to the RG6. |

Gents, I have no idea why a Mod/Admin would move my post above here. It hasn't been decided if it's a Receiver issue or an Dish alignment problem. Perhaps the Mod has inside information to share? |

Reciever issue or just poor Dish alignment? Hi Gents, I need some help on this Bell install for a Buddy of mine. He built a Cabin on a remote Island with no services in the Salish Sea near Powell River. That's right => no ferry, power, water, or sewer. All the infrastructure is self supported. Of course no Bell techs install there, so I advised him a couple years ago to put in a short pole for both the Sat and Cellular antennas and I'd set them up. He's a retired mechanical engineer, so anything in that realm is usually over the top. So the Pole is like 15 Feet tall. I originally asked him to go about 8 feet, just to keep any "explorers" away from it. Now with the ocean breezes it's like a sail, and I think it's out of alignment after numerous west coast winter storms. He is planning to bring it down near earth so we can more easily service it   ; but in the meantime he's discovered an issue.He subscribes to lots of HD and SD channels, but when he goes to look at the Guide there are no SD Channels listed - just HD. If he's on channel 500, and pushes the "up channel" button to go to 501 it won't go there. (He subscribes to both channels.) But if he keys 501 in directly it goes there fine. I know some of the signal strength has degraded, as he told me some values, and I compared them with the original setup numbers. So the question is, can this be narrowed down to the receiver, or dish alignment? A Bell service person (on the phone) told him he needs a new receiver. I'm not convinced, but I am better versed with Shaw Direct than Bell stuff, so I thought I'd ask for your opinion here. Of course one would normally just go to site and remount, or tweak, the dish; but it's about a 6-7 hour travel time each way depending on traffic, Ferries, etc. I don't want my friend to buy a new receiver if it's not really needed. Your opinion would be welcomed. Thanks for the assist.
