50" TV is 40% larger than a 42" TV - a smaller TV always looks sharper at the same viewing distance, although many times people confuse "sharp/crisp" with accurate, which is often not the case if the TV is not properly optimized
You took the words right out of my mouth

That explains why SDTV always looks so great in a PiP window! (well, one of the reasons).

57 The optimization (or lack thereof) on the two TVs could have an impact - see the following thread on that topic:

bhearsum I recently bought a PN50B540S3F, too. yermudder, how is your picture quality? My picture is not at all crisp on my PS3 or BellTV PVR, compared to a 42" Sony LCD.

milner_7 I swapped my Samsung for a LG 50PS70. Looks to be a better set with more features. Future Shop could not get it together and get one ordered for me so I went LG

milner_7 Just grabbed one from FS in Stoney Creek. The sales guy dropped the price to $949 from $1200 as I got the calibration for 299.00. Also got the 4 year PSP for $200 and a bell HD reciever for $99 which will go upstairs with my 40" Sammy LCD

pretty good deal. They have to order it in so it will be a few days.

57 No you can't since a totally black screen doesn't age the phosphors at all. Here's the burn in FAQ for more information on the topic:

The topic has been discussed to death in the following thread.

SushiMan What is your feedback??? I am looking at getting this model: Samsung pn50b540s3f series 5 540

yermudder I found the 5 series 540 plasma priced as the 4 series 450(50 inch) at wal-mart today. They discovered the error at checkout but had to give it to me anyway. Just hooked it up, calibrating now. Looks awesome.

DSgamby Update. I bought this TV

PPL4GOLF I have the A550 (probably the same thing)

Speaker doesn't sound terrible but they are feeble. I still use them for OTA TV viewing only.

SD rendition is generally not that good and BAD if you need to use a stretch mode that zooms (like blowing up 'stamp' 16:9 SD content to fill the screen = terrible, no issue on my other plasma doing the exact same thing)

I am quite happy with mine for what I use it for.

DSgamby but is it terrible than most? I have no problems with the sound on my HP monitor

gg22 Sound is terrible on most modern TVs - not much space for speakers.

DSgamby thanks, that doesn't sound good

05trx500fe I have the same TV really happy with it. HD really good SD I find a little motion blur as I posted earlier asking for advise. Surprised to get this on a Plasma . The sound is terrible compared to my old Hitachi CRT. I find it puts off a lot of heat 110 F or better at most times so for a small room it can really heat things up.
