Good to hear from you. One thing to think of is that FTA satellite is more of a hobby than just turning on your TV and watching. It is a learning process and may cost some $$ but can be rewarding.
Anyway, what you can receive depends a lot on what you want... a simple DVB receiver with a 36" dish and rotor would pick up around 100 channels; many foreign news networks (some english), lots of non english overseas channels, and wild feeds that might anything from local news to static pictures of government buildings. There are some specialty channels but these are dynamic; there today gone tomorrow. With a large 8' or bigger C-band dish there are some movie channels, weather, news, and more specialty channels, many in HD (1080i or 1080p).
    Cheers..

Hi, I new to this forum and notice that you are in southern manitoba. I'm such a newb at this stuff but looking for alternative to cable companies.

Anyway, I live in La Salle manitoba and just wondering what kinds of channels I can get from FTA? If you could point me in the right direction that would be great. This FTA is very intimidating for a first time user.
