LOL ... Sorry I didn't see your response until now! We're actually in North Burnaby now (and ground level, not in the basement!), and I made a quick and dirty SH52, which worked OK for the local channels but hasn't been able to get KVOS. I'm thinking about making a new one with thicker wire (or 1/4" copper pipe?) and seeing how that goes.

In the meantime, I have to remember to get to a Princess Auto and see what they've got. Thanks!

    Hi there,

I'm new to the forum, and I'm also near Foster and Blue Mountain, trying to figure out what antenna will work for us. I saw your post from January 2014 where you said you're in our area and got 18 channels using a Silver Sensor clone.

I'm wondering how high up your window was, and if you got KVOS with no problems. We're in an actual basement suite, unfortunately; not one of those "basement" suites that's only a step or two below ground level, but a real basement suite with 14 steps going down to our front (north-facing) door. Fortunately, our bedroom windows face south, although they're right at ground level. I'm hoping we can find an indoor antenna that might work in one of those windows, because I don't think we'll be able to get our landlord to let us put up an antenna attached to the side of the house, say.

Anyhow, if you have any information that might be helpful for us, I'd appreciate it. (And what Silver Sensor clone did you use?)

    Thanks!

I just saw them there under the shelf against the wall on Saturday, I didn't know anything about them, just what was written on the box. In my location in Coquitlam with a silver sensor antenna and I have an Old Sony HD tv with a high sense box from the states I can get a total of 10 digital channels, several not much use, but KVOS, PBS (KBTC)in hd plus two other channels associated with KBTC one just a Washington State government channel, a shopping channel, then the four Canadian hd networks (global, ctv, cbc, and city) and Omni not yet in hd. The picture on the hd even on an sd tv through the converter box can be really good.

    Thanks s40.

I've read reviews on them and many have been discouraging, in that they tend to not last very long. I would hope in the coming months that they become a bit more readily available locally. But in Canada, they'll just assume you'll buy a new tv with a built-in ATSC Digital tuner. I might wait a bit and then, if there isn't anything very good, I could order a Channel Master which is supposed to be pretty decent.
