Baltimore Ravens @ Miami Dolphins - CTV (Full Network), RIS, RDS*

Philadelphia Eagles @ Minnesota Vikings - CTV (Full Network), RDS
Note: * Listed as Joining In Progress at 3:30pm, so not sure if this is RIS cutting over to RDS, simulcasting or what is going to happen...
Note: CTV shifted the Sunday 4pm game to TSN due to Golden Globe awards at 8PM ET on CTV.
TSN has a hockey game at 5 (Ott/NJ).
I'm guessing the football game being shifted to TSN is next week, not this week.
alebowgm 2009-01-02, 12:34 AM TSN has a hockey game at 5 (Ott/NJ).

Yep, your right. I misread the note that had been e-mailed to me and thought it had said this week without double checking... The posting at the top is correct for this week...
Lorenzol 2009-01-04, 05:33 PM I'm with Rogers here in Ontario and the CTV feed for the Wild Card weekend games has been so uneven with their simulcast feed. I'm getting picture and sound drops from them. It seems almost as bad as it used to be with Global.
alebowgm 2009-01-04, 05:37 PM For the last few weeks I have had horrid OTA reception from Buffalo, so I am watching OTA on CFTO (CTV) and I have not noticed picture or sound drops during their broadcast today and it is nothing like when Global used to have the broadcasts. My only complaint is the late cut-in's as they don't always seem to get back to the U.S. broadcast when the U.S. network affiliates do, but I can live with that if it means there are no technical problems with the feed...
thegman 2009-01-04, 06:17 PM even the SD broadcast is having some audio/video problems, so Im guessing its a ctv problem. But, the simsub wont be dropped of course.
(as I say that, they comeback way late into the Fox halftime show).
Classof83 2009-01-04, 06:17 PM Coming back late from commercials is not acceptable either!
NB Josh 2009-01-04, 06:43 PM No audio/video problems on the Fox end of things (in SD at least).
alebowgm 2009-01-04, 06:52 PM Coming back late from commercials is not acceptable either!
I do not disagree, but with that said I would rather them come late back from commercials (although not overly late, just a few seconds late is acceptable enough for me) than have technical difficulties.
I have not had anything noticeable today and I am a stickler for this stuff. With that said, I still wish i had by WUTV-DT feed working.
thegman 2009-01-04, 08:02 PM Here we go again, after the game, ctv showed about 7 minutes of commercials (was fox doing this as well? who knows, I would assume fox would have shown some sort of postgame?), and now ctv is subbing its Bang? show over Fox.
Isnt fox supposed to be 24 now (or maybe still postgame?)
10 minutes in, still ctv over fox. lol.. Im guessing Global wont be happy, it should be their simbsub over Fox. lol (and once again, I pity those PVR'ers that have them set to record fox at 8.. too bad you aint gonna get 24)
Classof83 2009-01-04, 08:18 PM FOX had a few commercials, then a short post-game, and went to 24 at around 8:02.
thegman 2009-01-04, 08:19 PM Thanks for the update Class, looks like another email to the crtc, fat chance it does anything though.
And for the record, ctv is still over fox at 8:20.
Classof83 2009-01-04, 08:27 PM Who is your cable / satellite provider?
thegman 2009-01-04, 08:33 PM Rogers of course, and now its some Christine Applegate with the CTV logo on Fox. :)
alebowgm 2009-01-04, 08:36 PM thegman, that is a Rogers issue as they control the Simsub. All CTV does is put in a request with the BDUs (in this case Rogers) to implement the Simsub of their programming when applicable on a U.S. station. The BDU (Rogers) and not the source (CTV) is responsible for the on/off switch. My suggestion, call them and complain, heck you may even get some comps out of them for it if you note how you have been waiting a long time to watch 24: Redemption and now you have missed it because of an error on their end...
Classof83 2009-01-04, 08:36 PM Ah yes, I see it on the Buffalo SD station. CrapTV is showing ABC's "Samanta Who?" over FOX's "24" 36 minutes into the show!!! First it was CBS' The Big Bang Theory as you pointed out. All we need is an NBC show somewhere in here and all 4 networks are covered in this botched simsub debacle (The FOX HD channel is fine).
Unreal.
thegman 2009-01-04, 08:51 PM Youre right, if a mod wants to move the last couple posts to the Rogers forum, that might be more approriate, I just first wanted to know if there was a Fox postgame, and its kind of morphed into ctv/fox simsub talk.
This is not first time ROgers have screwed up the NFL simsub, they did it with citvtv in november, leaving citytv over CBS for a good while (and screwing up 60 minutes).
And 8:51, and its still ctv on fox. ;)
And its not that i particulary "care" that 24 is being missed (it is on global), its just that if it happens now, it will no doubt happen in a more inopportune time. (like the previous citytv one, the whole first interview with Obama was missed entirely)
Classof83 2009-01-04, 09:18 PM Well, it is up to Rogers to perform the simsub properly. But I've called Rogers several times to complain, and each time at the start, they tell me they don't broadcast anything, they just send out the signals as is.
Then I have to explain to them that they are responsible, but they still go on about the simsub rule and why it was put in place and how they are only following CRTC policy. I've also been told I would get a callback from the Office of the President, and never did. Then I followed up, and told Rogers they are indeed responsible for incorrect simsubs, and they still tried to deny it.
Then finally, after explaining to another rep how things work and how they are indeed responsible, I was told I would get another callback. This was just before Christmas Day. No one has followed up since, and they still are screwing things up, as evidenced by this massive blunder. Almost half of "24" was missed!
alebowgm 2009-01-04, 10:22 PM This discussion will probably get split and moved into the Rogers section, but with that said...
Classof83, do not give up. Work week begins tomorrow and I would be calling back and making my point. You can very simply give the point-in-hand of what happened this evening. A big part of the problem is the CSRs on the frontline do not have knowledge about signal substitution and they just read the prompt on their screen at the call centre. Most of the time they figure eventually you will just give up, but me being persistant would try to take it to the CRTC to get their attention.
Classof83 2009-01-04, 10:47 PM Well, I've been persistant with the CRTC as well. They log the complaint, and then say to tell who the service provider is and where the service is provided to, and then they pass it on to them. Then the provider (Rogers) tries to follow up with the complaint, and all they say is "thanks for bringing it to our attention. We will monitor things more closely and make sure it doesn't happen next time". But it continues to happen over and over again.
A few weeks ago, WGRZ-TV Buffalo was showing a telethon, yet Rogers still simsubbed with 2 different shows for the entire hour, so we missed out on the telethon, except for the first 2 minutes that weren't simsubbed! And tonight's case is another horrid example of simsubbing gone wrong. I mean, almost half of a 2 hour show / movie (24 - Redemption) was missed!!! This will continue to happen and nothing will truly ever be done about it.
And yes, it is appalling how little most customer service agents really know about technical problems and matters like simsubbing.
