: Cannot Run my Home Theater !!.
olilo 2008-12-28, 11:39 PM Yes , I cannot run my home theater.
This is the scene.
I got a 60" LG Plasma TV , who just have a Optical connector , it doesn't have the White and Red plug connector !!.
My Home theater is a " Cinemate " from Bose.
Before it was connecting to a 47" Samsung DLP TV , but now , I just upgrade TV .
The Bose system , doesn't have a Optical connector . I hear and I read about some Digital format converters , from Optical to Coax and Coax to optical .
So , the only suggestion that I receive from the place where I buy my TV , was " return it " lol .
So , here are some Pic to explain a little bit what I got :

Any Suggestion or advice , I will be very thankfully .
jvincent 2008-12-29, 09:17 AM Are you trying to take audio out of the TV and send it to the Bose?

scampbell 2008-12-29, 10:45 AM It looks like you need a digital to analog converter of some type.
Something like this: http://www.gefen.com/gefentv/gtvproduct.jsp?prod_id=5279
olilo 2008-12-29, 09:48 PM Are you trying to take audio out of the TV and send it to the Bose?
Yes !! , I try to connect the Bose system to my TV , so every component connected to my TV ( DVD , Satellite receiver ) Should be allow to reproduce sound from the TV Using the Bose system.
olilo 2008-12-29, 09:52 PM Yes !! , I'm looking for something like that.
Here in Vancouver not one have any idea about those connectors.
I was searching last night in Internet , and I found a couples , but just with one Plug out .
That one , what you show me in the link , have two exit for coaxial.
I believe that is exactly what I'm looking for.
But , one more question.
Someone toll me about that is almost impossible to use those connectors , because the digital audio is no compatible with the analog system . . . ???
jvincent 2008-12-30, 09:43 AM I think what scampbell showed you is your only option.
However, I'm not sure if the digital audio output of the TV will work for all audio sources. It may only give the audio that is coming in on the HDMI connection.
You may wish to purchase a separate analogue audio switch (manual or remote-controlled) and connect all the devices to the switch, then from the switch to the Bo$e. This will not give you audio on the TV, but most people don't use the TV audio once they have better audio available. You could purchase piggyback cables for any devices where you want to listen to the TV's speakers.
olilo 2008-12-30, 10:53 PM The Bose system was working perfect before in my old 47" Samsung DLP .
The Samsung Tv was having a Optical connection plus Coaxial.
The Problem what I really have here , is about my new LG Plasma.
The TV just have a Optical connector.
It doesn't have a Coaxial.
But like a say , was working a 100 % beforein my old Samsung TV.
There are one connector on sale , which allow you to connect the Optical cable with the Coaxial.
I am not sure if this device it will work a 100%.
I will try to buy it for Internet to see if really work.
135iAndy 2008-12-30, 11:17 PM The Source, formerly radio shack, sells a toshlink to digital converter by Nexxtech for about 50$.
I have seen it in a store, but I never tried it, so cannot tell you if it works properly.
Good news is that if you buy a short optical, short digital and the converter in one store, tell them that you don't know if it works, some salesperson will tell you that you can take it back and get your money back (get his/hers name)
olilo 2009-01-01, 11:40 AM Thanks , I will try that first , But I remember , that I ask in Source before , and there was a guy who tell me , that is almost impossible to make it work and the only way to do it , is buying a receiver , but I will check again in other location , the place what I check was a store in a little mall here in Vancouver ( Burnaby - Brentwood mall to be exactly ).
Again , thanks guys for all the help , I will let you know how I am doing with all the installation system , happy new year to everyone.
Thanks.
