My Pioneer 1017 has numerous sound pre-settings. However, I do know know what all of them mean: Auto Surround, Pop/Rock, Unplugged, Extended, Extended Stereo, TV Show, etc.

Plus, there are other settings on other buttons: DPLII, Neo 6 Cinema, Neo 6 Music, etc.

Are these settings mutually exhausive, or do they build one on top of each other?

Can anybody point me to the right direction?

Thank you.

Dolby PL II/IIx and DTS:NEO 6 are essentially propietary surround modes (owned by Dolby Systems and DTS Inc. respectively) that take a 2-channel stereo signal and processes them into a 5.1/7.1 channel matrix. In the case of Dolby PL II/IIx specifically, it can also take a 5.1 surround signal and creates a 7.1 sound field.

Thanks.

Howa about the other settings on a different button: Extended, Pop/Rock, Unplugged, etc?

What kind of sound processing do they do? Are they just equalized type of settings, or do they do anything else.
