It started awhile ago on Sportsnet but lately TSN has been doing it, too. That is applying inordinate compression to the audio. No matter how low I turn these channels down they are harsh and thin. When I change channels to one of these stations, I have to jump for my remote to lower the volume. Just a horrible and irritating choice. CBC's hockey games are perfect in the audio department. The louder it gets, the better it gets. I prefer to turn up rather than be forced to turn down a screechy, ear-bleeding noise.
