Hi everybody , new member here .

I just recently purchased a Panasonic plasma 46pz80 and I have untill Saturday to decide if I want to purchase the extended 5 year warranty .

I know that it has been discussed before in this forum but I can't decide if it is worth it .

I purchased the tv at a store called Kromer radio . The warranty costs 179.00 for 5 years . They also have some type of pixel gaurantee , whatever that is ? .

Any advice for me as to what I should do , or in other words " what you would do ? " .

Also , has anybody had experience with Kromer radio and also experience with buying there extended warranty ? .

No experience with Kromer but if you purchase your plasma tv with a credit card that extends the manufacturer's warranty by an additional year, its good enough. I would not waste additional money on buying an extended warranty.

180 bucks for a 5y warranty is very reasonable, thats less than 10% of the cost on that TV I would guess

$180 bucks is very cheap, almost too cheap to be true. Every extended warranty is different, you better read the fine print of the warranty to make sure you know what your covered for and more importantly what your not covered for!

Just so you know, you can also purchase an extencded warranty directly from Panasonic. You have 1 year, from date of purcahse, to decide to but this.

Several good points have already been made in this thread. It's quite rare that an extended warranty is used past the manufacturer's warranty plus the credit card warranty - (2+ years say). That's why they can offer it relatively inexpensively. Here's a post on the topic:

Kromer is offering the 5yr warrenty on all PZ800 and PZ850 Plasma televisions. Now thats a little piece of mind.

Panny is offering 3 years on the 850

Panasonic offers 3yr warranty on all Viera for an additional price.

Kromer is a good shop...been around a long time. If you're still unsure, call and ask to speak with Mark Stokes directly. He's a reasonable guy and easy to deal with.
