So I talked to a tivo support agent about my issues tuning Global (CIII-DT 6-1). He got me into the diagnostics screen where we found that the # of RS Corrected errors was super high. Initially there weren't any RS Uncorrected, but then they started showing up.

So the rep suggested changing the lines, but they are all brand new lines. Then he suggested using a filter. Anyone know what kind of filter? Is that really the right suggestion?

Appreciate any help.

I've had a few 'new channels detected' messages in the last couple of weeks.
When I go to see what's coming through, there is nothing there and Tivo comes up with it's standard message about trying to find the signal, or something.
I figure that it's going to take a few more days for all the channel swapping to settle down. Just this a.m. I re-scanned my USB tuner (from the same antenna as the Tivo's) and I got a new channel - some shopping network.
Global is actually on 8.1 (on the Tivo) but the channel info is on 22.1 right now (8.1 just says 'to be announced').
So that will eventually be fixed in a few days - hopefully, since I can't schedule any recordings until it's fixed!

Has that just happened to you in the last couple of days? It happened to me a month ago and Tivo said they couldn't do anything about it. On Tuesday this week, the picture moved over to 22.1 where the guide data is and I was thrilled, but it only lasted a day and now it is back to how you describe (at least it was this morning...who knows now?). I have also lost all picture and sound on CTV 32.1 as well.

BTW JFT436, you can do a manual recording, which is how I have been recording shows on 8.1. Just hit the 'Tivo' button and then number '7' to get to that screen. It's a shortcut, but all I ever use is the shortcuts (like Tivo, 2 for To-Do list) so I don't know what menus to use to get into the manual recording screen...but it works.

Something we Tivo owners should try as well is to contact Zap2It and have their guide data "fixed". Zap2It is owned by Tribune Media Services which is the same as where Tivo gets their guide/channel data from.

If you go here (http://www.zap2it.com/services/site/help/zap-faq-contact-channel,0,5059403.htmlstory) you can report missing channels or errors with guide data. Maybe, just maybe, if we can correct the source, the Tivo guide will update as well.

I've also called Tivo to get channels added/removed and sometimes it happens within a day or so and other times, it took weeks for the change to appear. If you use the Zap2it tv listings on their website and put in the same postal/zip code that your Tivo uses, you should see the same lineup and guide info. (minus any scanned in channels)

Yes - I did get the same issues as you over the past month.
I'll call them up (Tivo) and see if I can get some answers..
It used to be, the channel info problem was just with Omni. I used to have 2 channels on my guide - The analog showed proper guide info, and the digital showed 'to be announced'. But that got fixed, so hopefully, so will Global.

Have you been able to buy Tivo Desktop Plus from Tivo for use in Canada. I tried moths ago was was stonewallled as my credit card had a Canadian address and they could not or would not process my order?

If you got one in Canada, how?

DonC, you may want to try kmttg. It's free (opensource) although it is not the easiest thing in the world to install if you are not very technical.

jft436, I also am missing 36.1 (CITSDT) and 25.1 (CBLFTDT) - these 2 plus the 3 you mentioned all have the correct display channel but still have the old physical channel (the TiVo uses this, so it can't match the guide data that what you've scanned). Omni1 and Omni2 are also there but also have the wrong (old) display channel plus physical channel.

Don , I did it on line no problem, with my Mastercard, which is 'registered' with my account.
I'm guessing when I bought my lifetimes off them, I used that and it got added to my account info.
You could try with a different card maybe??

Lets see what happens with them, they were very co operative. I believe it was you that posted the M8z 2m1 postal code awhile ago. The agent could not access the guide for that postal code,it although he was suppose to be able to in his system.

I use a Niagara Falls Zip code 14301 but it does not make any differance. I did it with the idea of letting me access my Amerrican Netflix account however TIVO recognizes the Cand IP address and does not give you the American features that customers to the south enjoy.
Almost a form of reverse discrimination in my opinion

I would give it 6 days and see what happens. I like the previous post of going to the tribune service because that is the company that feeds the listings to TIVO.

I do no know whether you aware of this but when a station appears in the guide to be announced you can not record.

If you are missing channels do a scan it takes about 20 minutes. If the channel still does not appear in the guide go to the channel listings and make certain there is a tick mark beside the channel that you are looking for, that will populate the guide, but you may get
to be announced for programming info.

I had sucess in getting them to update TVO from 19 to 19-1

Likewise the old listings that are still in my guide and the recorder records a blank screen.

So you need the proper guide info for the pvr to work properly.

FWIW, I made requests on both these websites. Hope one of us is successful.

It would also be nice to see the old analogs removed to reduce the clutter.

I'm in the same boat as jhonny here in Coquitlam, get the channels on scan, but no update from TiVo as of yet. I will fill out the TiVo and Zapit web forms for the channels I get. Here's hoping.

Guide working for

jft436 - I just did a manual record on my Premiere, from one of the new "to be announced" channels, and it works perfectly well. The only downside is that you don't get any metadata, and just have the date/time and channel listed in your shows.

Go to the Manage recordings and downloads menu and record by time or channel. Once you're there you set up your manual recording. Make sure that you select the proper channel & date/time and your recording will be scheduled.

El Grand Chico - Thank you for the kmttg suggestion. I found it relatively simple to set up, once I fumbled through the on-line "manual" and program pop-ups. It adds a lot of very useful functionality (especially the remote tools for managing todo lists, season passes, will not record, and season premieres!).

WalterP/jtf426 - Manual record works if the guide shows TBA only if the channel isn't a "*" scanned channel. If it's scanned only, it doesn't appear in the channel field in manual recording. Of the 7 channels after the analogue-digital dump, I only have one that's in the guide and not scanned, so I can't even record CBC 10PM news. :(

I filled out the channel lineup report link @ Tivo as suggested earlier, hope this gets resolved soon.

Hey all, been awhile since I had to post issues with my TiVOs.

My TiVo has created new stations with the same channel #,

so now I have CITYDT 57-1 with guide info and no signal, and CITYHD 57-1
with picture, and sound but no guide.

The same is true for 41-1, and 9-1.

When I check the DVR Diagnosis the frequencies are different.

57-1 with picture frequency is 653000 kHz, 41-1 is 635000 kHz, and 9-1 is 189000 kHz.

In the channel guide the frequencies are listed as, City 44, Global 41, and CTV 9.

My question is this, when I contact TiVo to make a line-up change which frequencies should I give them to correct my line-up.

Thanks Greg.

bitterest - Did you actually try a manual recording on a "*" scanned channel, on a Tivo Premiere using the menu I described?

As I posted earlier, this works perfectly well on my 2 units, running software 14.8c. I have recorded several shows, and played them back without any problems. The only downside is the lack of metadata and the strange show labeling (channel+time), but it's ok as a temporary workaround while waiting for the Tivo/Zap2it Canadian digital channel listings updates. It's strange that it doesn't work on your unit, but this may be one of the peculiarities of Tivo!

It doesn't really matter. If you are reporting the issue to them, they should figure out that the guide info is messed up during the transition, and ALL us Canadians are having the same problems.
I did an on-line chat with someone yesterday, and he didn't seem to know about it.
He suggested I reset my system, and specify that I am using a Digital antenna - wtf??
There is no option for that on a reset! It's mute anyway!
I'm hoping that he passed the problem on to their tech dept.
So I encourage all Tivo users to report the problem to hasten the process to fix this.
Oh, I think I saw somewhere on the Tivo site that it could take a couple of weeks for Antenna guides to be updated. (Maybe the on-line form that you can also fill out:
http://support.tivo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/386 )

I have been corresponding since the 31st with Tivo about my channels here in Grimsby and have provided them with the following info:

9-1 now on 9 is CFTO - CTV Toronto
36.1 now on 36 is CITS - Crossroads
41.1 now on 41 is CIII - Global Toronto
47.1 now on 47 is CFMT - OMNI.1
57.1 now on 44 is CITY - CITY Toronto
69.1 now on 51 is CJMT - OMNI

They have now come back and said that it will takhe 5-7 working days to fix.

I am sure I am not the only one to have brought the issue to their attention. Hopefully it will be sooner.

Does anyone know how to get rid of the old channels when this gets fixed or will they just vanis?

@DonC, if they make the changes to the guide, you will see a message stating that your lineup has changed....if they do it correctly, the new channels and guide info will be there and the old channels will just be gone...

As statwd previously, Tivo takes its data from tribune, that provide the data to zaptoit. Once zaptoit updates, the tivo guide follow suit in a day or two.

Usually, if there is only a frequency change with no remap or station change, you may not receive a message.

WalterP - I stand corrected. I thought the channel descriptors I was seeing in the manual record setup was for the regular lineup channels, not the "*" scanned channels (it doesn't show the "*") so it does work - thanks.

I filled out a TiVo lineup change through the link that appeared earlier in this thread. TiVo responded today saying the problem was fixed - it wasn't.

Here's the dialogue with TiVo to this point, include my reply tonight (I use a Blaine, WA zip code for my listings):

The issue has not been addressed. Since receiving your email, I went into my TiVo premiere menu, selected Message & Settings | Settings | Phone & Network | Connect to TiVo service now, and received no changes to my lineup.

Please advise - thanks...
