Still waiting for mine to be done. Been almost 6 weeks. Checking every week. My case says "researching" for the last 3 weeks. I wonder what the word "actively" researching mean when I call them....

It's strange that it takes so long. The TiVo already has channel 65 analog which has the same guide.

I can see the following thinking: Calgary.... 1 user, NewYork.... 10000 users, Alaska 5 users, let do NewYork and Alaska first. Calgary can wait.

I put a request through to TiVo mid-June regarding the guide info for the new digital CityTV 17-1 station in Ottawa. They said it would take around 5 days. I called on Friday and they said something went wrong and it should be updated on TiVo within the next 2 days. Keeping fingers crossed.
Just curious, how did you place your request? email/website/phone? Did your add also appear on the zap2it website? I think they both share the same source (Tribune Media).

Thanks!

I called them and they gave me a tracking number which I've used recently when I contacted them again.

I've been checking Zap-2-It and it's not showing up there either.

I got a Tivo Premiere recently here in Toronto and have hooked it up to an OTA antenna and Rogers analog cable feed, and I must say, it's awesome. The guide is just so much better than the standard rogers PVR box that the cost of the switch is almost worth it alone.

The constant recording of something (ie: tivo suggested items) takes a touch to get used to in the sense of "why is it recording that show???".

Now to get to work on making my OTA setup better. Damn trees.

You know you can disable the TiVo suggested items. Go to your settings and you'll find it.

The digital CityTV guide is active now. Hurray!!!! It did take just 5 extra days.

The guide was placed onto the frequency, not the virtual channel number.

I found this area on their support site to report channel lineup issues. I hope it actually produces results.

Funky town: seems to be the same way that I am currently stuck for the last 3 months. Guide on the frequency channels.

It doesn't bother me that they are using the frequency rather than the virtual channel. I just wish it was consistent. CBC and the 2 OMNI channels have the guide attached to the virtual channels. SUN and CityTV have the guide on the frequency channels. It's inconsistent.

they are using the frequency rather than the virtual channelJust to clarify, they're actually using the real (also called the "RF") channel number and not the frequency. Those are different terms.

Frequencies are expressed in Hz, and are not the same as channels. :)

Oh, my bad. Thanks Stampeder. The RF, "real frequency"?

Do you have a picture on the "real frequency" or the virtual channel?

FunkyTown

Both channels have a picture, but the guide is only hooked to the RF channel.

I have contacted Tivo one more time other than asking update through the open ticket. He said the case was still ongoing and awaiting a fix "roll-out". I am not sure what he meant exactly. If it is a channel line up or maybe the Tivo software roll-out. He could not provide a timeframe.
What I find interesting is that your lineup is on the RF, not the virtual (remapped) channel. I wonder why have a clear signal on both your RF and remap and mine is black. Is this from the digital transmitter setup or some Tivo setup?

FunkyTown

I don't know. Both my RF and remap are clear with the exact same quality picture.

It's possible your signal is weak. Check the signal strength. If it's low, maybe that's why you're seeing black.

Good news! Got the lineup corrected Tonight. Both channels' guide are showing in the remap channel. YAY!

FunkyTown

Yes me too! The TiVo automatically switched my timers over to the new remap too. So now it's all consistent.

FunkyTown, andrela, and all, when discussing "real" channels it is okay to use the term "RF", and when discussing "virtual" channels you need to refer to them as "remaps" because that's all they are - a trick to overlay a new channel number onto an existing real one.

An explanation of real channels and remapping is found in the lower part of Post #15 of the OTA FAQ: Sub-Channels and Channel Remapping Explained (http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showpost.php?p=377665&postcount=15)

It explains why some of your observations are occurring. That's all on this topic. Back to discussing Tivos for HD OTA in Canada.
