Yes it does. It is much easier to setup with Vista MCE that has all the current patches applied it will detect the remote no problem.

If it does not detect the remote you will kinda have to do the following to learn the buttons.

Hold the remote pointing away about 70 degree angle from the MCR IR Blaster while pressing and holding the desired button then move the remote to the IR Blaster and wait for the screen to say release button and then move the remote away again and repeat until all buttons have been learned.

I tried to get it working, couldn't get it change channels and I programmed the remote where you have to stop the IR by means of blocking it. Another thing I noticed it was all in 4x3 format on my flatscreen, don't know how to get the picture widescreen. And the last thing is the program guide was kind of messed up. I picked aliant, but the channels are not corrosponding to the aliant guide with in MCE.

Has anyone have any success on getting IPTV directly by only the network cable, bypassin the VIP 1200 directly. I did notice little more distortion than I liked.

To zoom the scren you have to press info on the remote and you get a context menu to pop up from there you pick zoom and there are 4 seperate zoom modes.

I usually choose #3 I think the picture kinda looks like a pin cushion. It is the smart zoom mode.

You might have to slow down the channel change in MCE. It usually like to be slow for the MCE.

The IR reciever on the VIP settop box is about halfway between the green power led and the navigation button. In that general area is where the MCE IR blaster has to be stuck to.

I'm having similar issues with my HTPC actually - my Aliant VIP1200 STB doesn't seem to want to change channels reliably with the Hauppauge 1600 MCE IR blaster.

Works fine during the setup/test part of VMC, but when running "live" frequently will miss one of the numbers needed to change the channel.

Anyone have this working properly/reliably?

Also, the mods might want to move this to the HTPC section...

Trawl and ye shall find. For others having IR blaster troubles, this thread was massively helpful for me - seems Telus uses the same hardware as Aliant.

Another forum user posted this link from the MS KB that allows you to manually adjust the IR blaster timings in the registry:

Hey folks, first post.

I got Aliant TV a few weeks ago, hooked up to my HVR-1250 using MCE. Got it working great however the guide is wrong. I am getting Aliant Atlantic listings however I am in Newfoundland and not getting all the correct channel listings or numbers. Anyway to download the proper one? My only options in guide setup are for the Aliant thats wrong, and 2 for Rogers.

Also, anyway to make the HDMI port work(VIP1200)? They told me it was active but "not supported" by tech staff. If I reboot the stb with HDMI on it loads but then goes black after loading. Anyway around that?

Thanks folks.

Not really any easy way to get hd programing on a computer with aliant or any other hd service. Only way i know of is to get a hauppauge hd pvr that uses component in to get hd programing on your computer but its like 200 bucks and not all that easy to use

If you have the HD package, go into HD Settings and set up for either 720 p or 1080 i and the HDMI should work, if not reboot the box.

We are looking to have Aliant install new cables to experiment with their Aliant TV service. What type of cables do they use? Would these cables be compatible with Bell Expressvu if we decided to switch later on? Thank you for your help

There isn't much of a diff betweeen the two to most people. If you are watching alot of fast action your would problably like 1080 i
