I notice that Mr. Rogers is in a US hospital. It's great that the rich don't have to worry about the state of Canada's health care system.

"and in 1992 underwent a quadruple bypass operation at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn."

If that is what you mean it was 1992. I would have gone to Rochester too in 1992. I have a few cousins that did around that time and they were not rich.

If he is in the US I did not see that anywhere?? WHOOPS!

My bad......"Rogers, the 75-year-old founder of Rogers Communications Inc., is in hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, "

He was probably admitted to a US hospital because he was in the US at the time of his ailment :S otherwise he would be in a canadian hospital if he was in Canada.

to say he has no faith in the Canadian medical system. As someone whose community has benfited by a $1million donation for our new hospital by the Rogers family, I really wish the best for him.

Yes, his tax deductible donation makes him feel good but this man makes an obscene amount of money on which he pays very little tax. If hospitals were funded properly, they wouldn't need to rely on gifts from on high. Sorry for the off-topic rant but I feel no sympathy for someone who has helped lay waste to Canadian programming and contributes so little to his country.

This news makes me wonder if any substantive changes apart from the Fido rebranding are likely to happen while the Rogers top brass wait this out.

Calm down cmurray.

The truth is I was "surprised" when they said he was at a Cleveland Clinic. I think, however, this is more of an indictment on the medical system than on Ted Rogers

so.......

Going forward, lets PLEASE keep the medical system out of this thread.

Actually I like to think that he was giving back to the community that raised his mother before she moved to Toronto and got married.

Call me an optimist.

Apparently the company has decided that where Ted is treated is news. I tried to avoid it previously but the company has made it news so presumably its now back on topic!

Ted Rogers' Health Stabilized in Toronto

TORONTO, Nov. 6 /CNW/ - Ted Rogers, Rogers Communications Inc., is being
treated at the Toronto General Hospital (TGH). Mr. Rogers' condition has been
stabilized.
"I am grateful for the quality of care I am receiving at the Toronto
General Hospital, a world-class facility", said Ted Rogers.
Mr. Rogers is appreciative of the interest in his health and has asked
for the privacy of the family to be respected.

This is a priceless press release and shows the hypocrisy of Rogers.

They issue a second press release entitled "Ted Rogers' Health Stabilized in Toronto" to obviously counter the whole idea that he is now in a Toronto hospital and not a Cleveland hospital.

In other words, Ted Rogers and his company have made Ted's illness and treatment location news by issuing a press release and then they have the audacity to try and shame the media by saying that they want this kept private.

Sorry Ted but your organization made a news item of this.
