So I was in EB yesterday picking up Rock Band 2. I see the new XBOX Live pre-paid packages on the wall. The box has a Netflix sticker on it. I know that Netflix is available in the States, but I find it strange that they would have that branding on the Canadian box.
I asked the kid behind the counter about it, and he said that Netflix is coming to Canada exclusively through XBOX Live when the new dashboard launches in November. I haven't heard anything about this. Has anybody else heard about this happening?
Can't see that happening, the CRTC would go ballistic and would shut it down in a heart beat to "protect" Canadian businesses.

Why would the CRTC get involved ... they don't have any role in software retailing. Last time I checked, Blockbuster wasn't CRTC licensed.
The issue is Canadian distribution rights to content. Netflix would have to acquire Canadian distribution rights which they likely do not currently have. However, with the LG BD200 also being Netflix enabled, it is very possible they are looking at doing just that.

The CRTC would get involved because you're distributing it over the telecoms network. Blockbusters has nothing to do with the CRTC's remit, but a digital delivery service does.

It looks like Netflix is not for Canada. If you look at the New Xbox Experience preview on the xbox.com site it specifically says US only for Netflix. The Netflix screen is missing completely on the Canadian version of the New Xbox Experience preview/demo.
