: Sirius Sportster 5 Questions

I have a Sirius Sportster 5, which I have had now for almost 6 months and I must say I love it. Up to now I have had no issues with the Sirius programming but now that the NHL is back I must say I'm a bit dismayed. I chose Sirius because I knew that it was only a matter of time before XM and Sirius were one company and Sirius had the better service, except without NHL. But that is another story.

My issue has to do with the wonderful features that my Sportster 5 has that don't seem to do anything. Specifically my Sports Tickers and Alerts. The only Ticker that actually works on my radio is the NASCAR ticker (that's great because I love NASCAR) but my NHL ticker and alerts, although setup, don't seem to do anything. I have contacted Sirius about this and pretty much get a canned response about the merger not affecting Canadian customers and not to worry my service won't be affected (talk about off topic).

Anyone else with this radio and a Canadian Sub have this issue or is it a problem with my radio?

I have spoke to Sirius Canada on this issue and their answer is that they currently do not carry NHL programming, they have no plans to carry NHL programming and if you want NHL programming you should switch to XM. When I asked specifically about the ticket they said that the ticker will only work if they carry the NHL, which apparently at one point they did.

So the bottom line is if you want NHL on Sat. Radio in Canada you better get XM
