On June 6th I posted

Park your hummer! Oil hits U.S. $138 a barrel (http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=87413)

Today oil hit $77 a barrel so maybe you can bring your hummer back out!

Should note however that I think the CDN dollar was about $1.07 back so a barrel of oil was $138 / 1.07 or about $129 in CDN terms.

Now its $77 /.84 or $92 a barrel in CDN terms.

Still a significant decline.

We might have gas below a buck a litre soon!

We might have gas below a buck a litre soon!It was .982 in Ottawa yesterday evening however, with our cheap CDN buck:confused:, it has to go down a little more to be below an "international dollar value"! I think there should be a new way of pricing fuel: It should go with the size/consumption of your vehicule, afterall most of the price is TAXES:rolleyes:

Gas is still over $1.30 a litre here.

Gas is still over $1.30 a litre here.I guess you got to pay the price for living in paradise;)

Joke aside, there is no uniformity in gas prices and this proves how much abusive surtax that are part of the price; the only reason for being cheaper in some area is the fact that people are close to the US borders and can easily go accross, this jeopardise gas pricing in Canada and the only way is to charge less taxes.

Keep in mind, with our dollar recently falling about 17% from $1 to 83˘, then we can expect a 17% increase to the cost of gas, and oil - notwithstanding the current drop in the price in oil.

So a lot, but not all, of the drop in the price of oil, is counterbalanced by the drop in the loonie.

I saw gas at 1.05 per ltr around Calgary today. But I don't think the gas co's will be in a mad rush to drop the price too much at the pump, they will now go into their "Charge what the market will bear" mode.
Their shares have taken a beating on the stock exchange as well so they will also want prices high to beef up their profits and royalties they pay shareholders.
Alberta Royalties are based on the price per barrel cost, so if the oil and gas Co's keep the pump price high and lower the price slowly, more bucks in their pockets.

Gas was 97.4 in Orleans (Ottawa East) yesterday morning. Same station was 99.8 tonight. They have been below 1.00 all week...

Just in the last 24 hours, we've had a massive drop here on Vancouver Island: from $1.259 down to a paltry (or not) $1.179.
Who did we p*** off that we always get to pay the most for gas?

I have found that Sault Ste Marie ia always about 10 -15 cents more expensive than Sudbury.

I have been in the US the last few of days and prices have been ranging from $2.89 in Indiana to as high as $3.94 in Wyoming (still a huge bargain when compared to what I'm used to in Canada, ironically I was somewhat upset when it cost $32 to fill up my tank in Cheyenne).

Regardless of the price of gas, my next vehicle will be an electric one.

The 2 cars I currently own will last me at least another 5 years, so it gives the car companies time to develop and release better electric cars than are currently in the works.

Price of gas in Nepean was .978 on Friday. On the news this morning, they point out at .92 somewhere in Ottawa. I checked my usual gas station in Nepean this morning and it was some like .98!

Norm Wise decision Norm! Now, you might keep your eyes open for potential work for one of the electric car companies. I am convinced they would love to have experienced guys on board ;)

So odd, the electric cars suddenly becoming a reality and suddenly price of gas going down substantially!

91.8 at the Ultramar, corner of Innes and Trim this morning in Orleans. It will be cheaper on the way home.

91.8 at the Ultramar, corner of Innes and Trim this morning in Orleans. It will be cheaper on the way home.I envy you jayoldschool! I use to go every second week in Orlean and plan accordingly for a fill-up in Orlean as for some dark and unknown reason, the price of gas is always cheaper in this area than downtown Ottawa. Well, who ever said life was fair?:D

Cheers!
