Does anyone know of any Telus stores (downtown Toronto) that have any in stock? There were some at Best Buy on the weekend, but since I'm doing a contract renewal, not a new contract, they didn't have a clue how to set me up and told me they couldn't help me.

I can't find a Diamond anywhere in downtown Toronto! ...well, anywhere that will sell me one. :)

All TELUS Stores can and should be able to renew u on a new phone. I did it on day 2 in ottawa last week. I had to call around to a few stores to find one but once i did i rushed over :)

Thanks TK. Was it a Telus store or a dealer? That's the thing, after my experience with Best Buy, I've just been trying actual Telus stores and, so far, no luck finding one.

It was a telus store. I think if all they sell is telus that they should be able to hook you up. Some dealers maybe lazy but all they have to do is look up your account and tell you what your current offer is.

I had the orginal touch and really liked it alot. The diamond is simply a glossier sexier touch. I'm still learning all its ins and outs but its a great visual improvement over the orginal and the 3d touch flow can almost hide the fact that your running windows mobile 6.1 running in the back ground. Although its quite obvious after a few minutes of playing with it..

-call quality is way up compared to the touch
-speaker and headphone volume seems higher and clearer.
-its still a windows phone so requires the periodic REBOOT. It would not be a true windows product othewise :)

There are some issues or programs i am still trying to get working on it but have not really looked to hard into it. Youtube program works flawlessly, but neither opera or PIE open youtube videos when your on the youtube website. I had TCPMP running on my old touch that allowed PIE to open and play any google or youtube site video... Im trying to find either a new version or an older version to work so far no luck.

The 3d cube is gone but i dont miss it. The sliding bar brings you to all the nessary programs quickly.

To me this phone is like a diamond in the ruff (pun intended). Had telus made more noise with this phone and had it release the same day as ROGERS rapped Canada with the IPHONE, I feel this thing would have done some serious damage to rogers.

Unfortunalty the SAMSUNG instict has had more telus love but does not compare to either in my opinion.

Thanks TK, sounds like I'll enjoy it. I've not had a WinMo phone before, but I do know the reputation. :) I'm happy to put up with it for what appears to be an otherwise pretty great phone. Plus, I got an awesome deal from Telus L&R so I just need to find a Telus store or dealer with one in stock, and I'm in business!

I agree about marketing this thing. You can't go 5 feet in downtown Toronto without seeing those annoying Bell "er" posters and billboards EVERYWHERE for the Instinct. If Telus got the word out about the Diamond, it'd leave the Instinct where it belongs, on the store shelves. Though, since I can't find one, I guess they're not having many problems moving the Diamond as it is. Maybe we'll see more hype once their supply issue is sorted.

I've been waiting on the tech crowd to figure out a problem with one of the nicer capabilities of the Diamond - voice to text. The benefit for me is that rather than try to listen to voicemail, you just check SMS. They haven't got a handle on it yet. I'm not getting stressed over this because I'm getting a free trial. I'll post results next week.

Responce to my email about updated ROM and lag issues, i find the unit can slow down to the point of needing a reset sometimes.... just like windows! LOL

Thank you for your inquiry about your Telus Touch Diamond.

We understand how important it is to update your phone. Telus is the first carrier in North America to carry our new Touch Diamond, and I believe it's the first CDMA Touch Diamond anywhere.
Now it's true, unbranded, unlocked GSM Touch Diamond models were introduced in the European and Asian markets earlier this year, and there has been a ROM update for those devices. For each device that's introduced in multiple international markets, HTC separates the support pages according to the webpage's country location. These updates will not work for your phone because yours is a CDMA phone and a CDMA network. Microsoft writes the operating system, we provide the firmware that's specific to the device, and then the network carrier will conform it to match their services, after which an extensive testing phase begins. Then the ROM update is released. I am absolutely positive there will be a ROM update for the Telus version of the Touch Diamond soon, although I cannot estimate exactly when.
In the mean time, if you are experiencing lag on your device, I would suggest making sure to clear out any applications running in the background. This should help speed up response especially in navigation.

My diamond has no lag, has never crashed or needed rebooting. Not sure why everyone else is having these issues?

Ya im not sure why, but I get slow down issues, i run opera and youtube alot. Other issues like if you have youtube open the mp3 player dont work. And every once in a while my phone key pad just appears. I dont have much on mine yet so i may just do a HARD RESET and see if things correct them selves.

I do get this freezing once and a while as well

Has any tried to trnsfer a digital copy of a dvd movie from pc to the touch diamond. I tried and am having problems with the sync.

i have not, but try just dragging and dropping from pc to phone folders.

Hey everyone,

So i got my diamond 3 days ago, and im loving it, but im having a problem with opera mobile. Whenever i turn the phone sideways to view a page in landscape mode, the screen turns as it should, and about 3 seconds later the phone pad or program explorer pops up, and opera is minimized.
I was wondering if anyone else has this bug, and if they've managed to fix it.

Just wondering, does the Diamond have a sd/sd micro card slot? Htc's web site don't mention one.

No the Diamond has no expandable memory, only 4GB of internal.

After playing music for 10 seconds it stops and gives an error. I put a few mp3 on the storage side which it seems to pick up as music files automatically but don't think that the problem. I did put .net framework for windows mobile on it but not sure if that would have done anything. The mp3 trimmer seems to work fine. Any ideas?
How does one access their voice mail? To listen to my saved mail messages I have to press 1. The problem is that the screens gone blank so you have to frantically press buttons to try and press a keyboard '1'.
