Hi,

I am in University and I thought of a sweet idea and I was wondering if anyone could comment if it would work, or if telus would stop me.

I want to go to a student plan or favourite friend 5 plan. I would add my remote phone number which allows me to call into it, ahd then I can call out of my VOIP. So for any long distance call I would call the "hub" and then dial out. Can telus realize this and prevent me from doing this?

Thanks,
Troy

I do that with Rogers. IMHO, as long as the number you give 'em is OK for the plan it's not their business how exactly you're using it... YMMV.

Primus Remote Phone? Is it better value then Mobivox?

Hi. In response to you using my5 with remote phone... Have you confirmed this to work in both directions? ie: dialing out through the local access number AND having calls routed to you through remote phone and showing up as your Primus number? I was wondering if you set up remote phone to not pass through the call display information and instead pass through your "office" number (the default), if it get's recognized as your home phone for incoming calls through your Primus account. Thanks!

Well, I don’t use Primus, and see no reason to do so. I could just as well throw money out of the window. Or go to Vonage, the same rip off.

Back to subject – yes, I used it that way for some time. When someone called my number, the VoIP provider I used at that time would override the caller’s CID by my home phone, so this incoming call would be a part of MY5. But I found it extremelly inconvenient to receive calls with no caller id, so I changed it to have the CID passed to my mobile even though it renders the call as not part of MY5
