: Strange PPV issue...

I have been having a strange, intermittent issue with ordering from the PPV channels the last few months, and was wondering if any of the knowledgable members here could explain it.

I order PPV frequently, mostly boxing and MMA, and never had any trouble until April 31 of this year. When I tried to order a PPV that afternoon, it appeared to go through fine, but just over a minute before the event was due to start, the PPV countdown stopped, giving me error PPV-163 (a Rogers tech support person later told me this means the event could not be found). I figured it might have something to do with the removal of the 12 PPV channels on May 1, but I called Rogers anyway, and the support rep told me that my cable box "was not accessing the network", which I found odd, since I was able to view all my channels and order On Demand content just fine. They sent out a technician the next day, by which time the problem seemed to have solved itself; he could find nothing wrong with the cable box (a 4250 HD) or my signal (which was actually very strong). After this, I had no further issue until last Saturday. Tech support gave me the same line as before ("not accessing the network"), and sent someone out. This time, the problem persisted until yesterday evening, but again, when the tech came out this morning, everything was basically fine. He replaced a splitter and some cable on the off chance that there was something intermittent going on there, and re-authorized my box because it was missing an "EMM number" (he didn't seem to know what that was either, but said there should be a number for it), but he didn't seem to think either of those was the likely cause.

So, after all that, any suggestions as to what might be causing this? It seems to affect nothing except the PPV channels. Has anyone else in the London area experienced these issues? Thanks.
