Im thinking about upgrading my tv to a 52 inch LCD HDTV. Although most of my veiwing on max will be SD with a small amount of HDTV watching. Ive heard SD on an LCD looks like crap. I was at futureshop and got them to turn there shaw box to SD it looked awful it was grainy and bad (both the analogue SD and the digital SD.)

How does your max sd look on your LCD TV ?

I have max SD on a 2 year old 32 inch toshiba crt and it looks really good. Im worried it wont look good on the LCD.

As for max HD ( i realize theres a topic for this but since no one has posted to it in 7 months i thought i would ask here)

Has max HD improved since its rolled out? are there still very bad issues with it?

Is it broadcast in 720p or 1080 i?

I'm wondering if its best to use component or hdmi with the max reciever?

Thanks in advance for all the info.

I have Max Hd with PVR and it had improved quite well, no more freezing or pixels. It's best to use component to the hd pvr box called moto vip1216. If you have sd only, you have to phone Sasktel and they'll upgrade you to their hd pvr service for free, like free install, and you get two months of hd programming for 59 dollars a month, sweet deal.

it's broadcasts in 1080i, i think. no hdmi but you could ask Sasktel tech support.

Let me know how it turns out with the uipgrade.

There are some lcd tvs which handle SD signals better than others.

I agree with yvrwindsor. Also not all SD channels are equal (at least with Shaw). Doesn't SaskTel have a sales office where they demo their services?

I'd be interested in knowing the answer to that as well (I have a 52" LCD and am sick of Shaw).

Sasktel has a sales office at The Centre mall.

I have a 42" and 46" Sharp D64U and I used to have HD channels in Sasktel. The HD signal looks great in 1080i but the SD is pretty bad compared to Shaw.

I had Shaw SD before and it's significantly better qualify in SD for my Sharp TVs, I can't comment on HD for Shaw since I never had it.

The HD PVR receiver does have a HD output but it doesn't carry sound and since it's1080i signal anyway, I just stuck with the component cables that came with the installation
