I am having a hard time finding a current BD player that plays DVD-A as well. I am looking for a player that is under $500. I suppose I could just continue to use my current DVD player for DVD Audio and use a new BD player. That would mean that I need to get a new video card for my Panny plasma though so that is another $120ish on top of the BD player. So an all-in-one makes more sense to me and would cut down on the components in the rack. :D
Any recommendations would be appreciated.
MUST NOT BE SONY. Long story....
Thanks!

At a $500 pricepoint I believe your only solution is the Sony Playstation 3.. I'm also not a fan of Sony, but keep in mind that they developed SACD, so naturally this is your best option
If you can wait another few months until after Xmas you're likely to see a lot more options on the market, with lower pricepoints. What's the rush to purchase immediately?
Also what is the need to purchase a new video card for your Panny? A cheap HDMI switch should do the trick ;)

Jeez, I never even thought about a HDMI switch. *smacks-head* Thanks! It would be simple to program the Harmony for that too.
I'm looking at a slightly used Panasonic DMPBD10 which would fit the bill if I can get it at the right price.
I will just hold on to my current Toshiba upconverting player for now I guess and see what happens in the future, but I don't have a lot of hope. DVD-A seems to be a "defunct" product nowadays which is too bad since they sound so awesome. Too bad the studios could not get their collective poop in a group and force this format out to consumers. It likely would have solved a lot of their piracy concerns with HDMI.

You know brother i was going through the same thing. The best blu-ray dvd player is the samsung 1200 it has some type of chip in it to give the dvd play back look amazing the other had the blu-ray player it self has some issues.
I bought the samsung 1400 and its been a great blu-ray player for me(with updated firmware)
I compared watching a movie on tmnhd and the up converting a dvd on the 1400.My conclusion was the 1400 looked awesome.(to me it looked just as good as watch a movie on hd cable)
I don't no about any other blu-ray players because truthful Ive only have this one and that my view for you on the 1400:p

I'm not sure about a Blu-Ray player that does DVD-A also, but FYI, I saw a report just recently that speculated that now that Blu-Ray has won the latest video format war, it may also replace both DVD-A and SACD and become the new HD audio format. That would be nice, to have just one format for the best video and audio. I've got a Pioneer DV-578A that will hopefully last a long time for my SACD and DVD-A discs, but moving to just Blu-Ray in the future makes sense to me.

PS3 does not support DVD-A, only SACD and only on the 20, 60 and 80 GB models. The current 40 GB and the future 80 GB models won't support SACD so it looks like SACD is being phased out on the PS3.
