Hi, All,

I am new to this forum, and this is my first post.

I have a Sony KP-53HS30 which I have using for almost 7 years. Touch wood, I haven't changed anything of it yet. The picture still looks good. I am wondering when the lamp finally burns out, is it worth to change it ? How much roughly would it be? And is it easy to change?

Thanks

yours is a CRT type rptv, no lamps to worry about.

There are three guns inside and when one of them burns out your TV is done. You can replace the gun but it will adversely affect the colour balance and the cost would not be worth it

The average life is 10 years plus on RPTV.

My toshiba is 10 yr plus and still going.

Additionally, your convergence circuitry could go and the output of your CRTs could diminish. Nothing to worry about until/unless it happens. I've had my CRT rear-projection TV for just over five years. It's acted funny a couple of times, but nothing permanent (yet?). Aside from that, it's been rock solid, for both colours/PQ and convergence.
