: Telus in Saskatchewan?

I've been a SaskTel customer for years, but I'm in need of some new phones, and it seems Rogers and Telus are the ones getting the "sexy" new models from companies like Apple, LG and Samsung. SaskTel's offerings look pretty sad indeed.

Anyone have any comments (good or bad) about Telus in Saskatchewan? I'm particularly interested in real-world info on coverage, especially in major centres like Saskatoon (and Regina). The "My Faves" and Share plans looked to be priced well too, but I'm interested in what the rest of you think. Thanks in advance.

Telus has no native coverage in Saskatchewan.

Up until recently (or soon - I'm not sure if it's happened yet or not), Telus had digital coverage in Regina and Saskatoon but SaskTel forced Telus customers with 306 numbers to roam on analog coverage elsewhere. This meant that you couldn't use your bells and whistles outside Regina and Saskatoon.

Because SaskTel is shutting analog coverage down soon, this had to change and now (or soon), Telus customers will get the full SaskTel digital coverage footprint.

Whether they get EvDO or not, I'm not sure.

Telus has bid on some spectrum in the spectrum auction, so, in theory, will eventually have native coverage here, but it's far too early to say what kind and how good.

If you want to be on another physical network, right now Rogers is your only choice.

i'm an alberta telus customer for seven years love the service in Alberta but as soon as I come home to visit family I may as well turn it off, this trip its no texting because of a saskatchewan network problem or some bull like that. Rogers works great in city centers but terrible anywhere else out west. Sad as it is keep your crappy sasktel phone because your network will be much better

Well I guess I'll scratch Telus off the list, at least for the next few years. We're not outside Saskatoon or Regina very much, so I may still consider Rogers.

Thanks for the feedback. It was helpful.

FYI TELUS coverage in Sask has changed as of July 1, 2008No longer the cludgy coverage. Basically new agreements with SaskTel for seemlessprovince wide roaming so they say.

I noticed Telus has moved from a cheapy kiosk to a larger retail space in Midtown Plaza (Saskatoon). I found that interesting. It's about 2 doors down from the Rogers store, which I found even more interesting. :)

Do you know, are they building their own network here in Saskatchewan, or are they piggybacking on someone else's upgrade (like Rogers)?
