If I turn off the power to my HDPVR and SD boxes for several weeks, will I have to re-intialize upon my return ,or should I be good to go ?
Thanks

Yes, you will need to Re-authorize your Digital Terminals by calling Rogers, or you can do it yourself Online (if registered to the Rogers Online Self Service). See: https://your.rogers.com/CustomerCare/myCableservices.asp.

In my experience, you could also just leave it plugged in and evantually it re-authorizes itself, as long as its on the account.

Trad, not in my experience. It's been a month and a half. Perhaps if there's a firmware update, but I've had no luck just leaving it plugged in w/ the cable connected.

Now I'm really confused...are you saying that even if you do leave everything plugged in,the inactivity will require a reactivation ?

No, I think he meant after a long time (1.5 Month) unplugged (no power), then re-plug and you may have to wait "forever" for self reactivation.

I always disconnect the Roger's box when going on vacation and have never had to call Rogers on my return. Just plug it back in and it boots up - doesn't seem to take any longer than any other boot.

I don't think I've ever had it down for 1.5 months though - two weeks max.
