I have Sharp LC-37D62U LCD. There is Optical Out connector and when I connected anything through Component cables I will get sound out from the Optical Cable to my AV receiver, however anything connected through HDMI will not produce any sound through Optical Out. Is this normal, can this be fixed somehow?
HDMI has audio built in. So probably no opt OP.Component on the other hand requires an external audio OP.So optical will work. Hook up the HDMI to the tuner if possible.
The TV may not pass the HDMI signal to the optical output. The optical output is designed to be used with the internal tuner, not as a passthrough. Please see the following thread on the topic.
If you want DD5.1 audio, you'll need to connect directly from the device to the AVR.
