I thought it was an excellent episode as well. I did notice however it was not airing on CBS just CTV.

Unfortunately I think CBS cancelled the show...but I'm ok with that...as long as CTV continues to step up.

I don't think that CBS cancelled it. I think they plan to air the end of season 2 either later this fall (if anything gets cancelled), with the new season starting either after Christmas or in the summer.

I really like that they have changed the format of the show. No more "13.375 seconds ago". They went straight through the story, which was excellent.

The format was really good for the first while, but it was getting boring and predictable.

I take it the one actor wanted out? Gotta give him credit for taking his character out in a very memorable way. Overall, if this is what they are doing, we have an excellent season to look forward to!

The current season of Flashpoint has been amazing, IMHO.

However, the last episode is listed as the "fall finale".

What does this mean? I found the following on Wikipedia:
Eighteen new 2009 episodes were ordered by CTV and CBS (the original 13 ordered by CTV on August 25, 2008 plus 5 additional episodes that were ordered on November 19, 2008). The first nine of these new episodes, combined with the four holdover episodes from 2008 were aired as Season 2 in North America. The remaining nine episodes, although originally filmed for Season 2, will air as Season 3 beginning September 25, 2009 in Canada [CTV] and at midseason 2010 in the United States [CBS].
It sounds like all episodes contracted for have been broadcast, and I can find no mention of the show's future.

Any one know any more than this? Will the show be back - and if so, when?

From the Oct 6 press release:

CBS has renewed the police drama FLASHPOINT, ordering 13 episodes for broadcast later this season. (http://www.thefutoncritic.com/news.aspx?id=20091006cbs02)

Since CTV has aired 9 episodes, it has 4 to go. I don't know if they have been filmed yet, so they could air after the Olympics or simulcast with the tail end of the CBS run (whenever that will be).

I believe those 13 episodes are on top of the 9 that CTV just aired (technically the 'back 9' of season 2). CBS will probably air those 9 in the winter, then the next 13 in the summer, thats just a guess though. The way that Flashpoint has been broadcast is slightly screwed up anyway.

I know that there is only so much variation you can do in a show where hostages are taken every week but do they really have to end every single episode with the characters giving each other long thoughtful looks while a shitty song plays loudly?

The thoughful looks sure beat the stupid laughing at the end of some other shows.

Not surprisingly, tastes vary. I have liked some of the closing music so much that I've tracked down a couple websites that identify the songs so I can go and buy them.

....and you found that a lot of it was composed and performed by two of the lead characters!

When I read the bio about the actress playing Jules, I was blown away - she is HOW OLD?????

gesundheit, can you tell me what websites those are? I'd be interested in knowing what songs they play at the end so I can buy them as well. I really like some of Hugh Dillon's music (not a huge fan of The Headstones, but I do like some of his solo stuff since then).

A favorite of both my wife and myself was 'All roads lead home' by Golden State, but of course you can only get it by buying the soundtrack to the movie 'Henry Pool is Here'. Haven't seen that movie, so we don't know if any of the other music on it is worth having.

NB Josh, the two websites are:

http://shows.ctv.ca/FlashPoint/Music.aspx

http://wegotthesolution.blogspot.com/2009/10/music-of-flashpoint.html

In 3 seasons, two songs by Hugh Dillon, one by Amy Jo Johnson, so I don't think they're overselling the actors.

Too bad about that Golden State song only being sold as part of the soundtrack album. Just a thought, but one could always go the torrent or Limewire route, purely as a test, and if the album is good, then you can go buy it...

Thanks for the links. I am half surprised to see some of the great Canadian talent they have used. I really like Hey Rosetta! but never noticed that they used their songs

Not exactly. It is new to Americans, but they are the same episodes that aired on CTV in the fall.

JamTV is listing the episodes starting on Jun 4 (today!) as NEW.

The descriptions sound like stuff we have seen.

Does this mean that JamTV does not know the difference between new episodes and ones that have been broadcast? Or are they working with a different definition of "new" than the rest of us?
