I am just looking for a quick opinion here. I am purchasing the 42" Panasonic.
Private through some distributors I know, I am able to purchase the 720p for $1145, and the 1080p $1370...
A whopping difference of $225. Everything I have read says that 1080p at this size screen shows no difference from the 720p.
Would you go the extra $225? It really isn't a money issue. Thanks all!
Don't know why people think resolution is the be all and end all when studies have consistently shown that resolution is only a small element of overall PQ.
The 720p vs. 1080p is pretty much meaningless here but if picture quality is important to you (i.e. colour reproduction and black levels) I would go with the newer panel.

They are both the new 2008 line up models.
They are both 2008 models but I thought the PX was an older generation panel with updated electronics?

I understand the PX is the 1080P and the PZ is the 1080i (720p)

It's the other way around px is 720 and pz is 1080

If it really isn't a money issue like you said, why are you having this delimma? What exactly is the issue then? :)

Maybe OP's point is why spend the extra $225 if you don't have to.;)

What's your watching distance?
Do you see any difference between the two at this distance?

I had the Panny PX80 in the living room until I replaced it with the Pioneer6020FD.
The PX80 is now in the bedroom and I absolutely love the set!!! The picture is fabulous!!!
Don't think you will notice a differance between the PX80 vs the PZ80.
