: Sirius Channel Changes on June 24th

When you turn your Sirius radio on Tuesday June 24th, it may need 2 - 5 minutes to receive updates from our satellites. During the update, the audio you hear may not match what is shown on your display and you may see messages such as "updating channels" on your radio’s display.

While the changes are being updated to your radio, it is recommended that you not change channels since this will delay the update from completing. The upgrade will affect some existing channel numbers, so you may need to update your presets.

Since Sirius USA is doing this huge channel update and renumbering, I can only assume this is the date that Sirius Canada will update their units too?

Looking forward to the new channels....

Unless I'm misunderstanding Kieran's post, is there any chance that the channel names will finally get updated?

Well, the channel names did change afterall.;) There are a lot of "Programming not available" (note sure of the exact wording) messages in the play-by-play sports area. There is a channel 223 (or was it 233) titled "Barker" with the same message as above. There are a few more music channels and more talk channels.

My only complaint: The Weather Network on 138 still sounds terrible. Actually, terrible is a compliment. We talk of AM radio quality sometimes but, TWN is even worse. ;)

No U.S. traffic channels though.

50 - Hot Jamz
68 - Praise
92 - Rumbon
113 - Specialty
135 - NPR Talk

It didn't go away completely, they just took it off the satellite lineup and moved it exclusively to the online lineup. I realize that if you don't have a Stiletto (or an S50 for that matter) than there's a problem with being able to receive it all the time, but it's still better than nothing. Besides, I think they'll probably move it back to the satellite lineup after the E Street Radio channel run finally ends in 2009.

My Sportster 5 updated correctly on its own - however, my old Streamer would not play the new channels until I called Sirius to have them "hit" it individually. It now works fine.

The update hit my Starmate less than a minute after I turned it on this morning. No apparent problems.

I received the update this morning as soon as I powered on my car. However, after the update the channels they were suppose to move I.E. 34-->38.
34 is the new channel, but I don't even have 38 or 39. Then I read that we were suppose to get 10 new channels as well. None of which show up on my unit:mad:
Anyone else have this problem? Did you have to call and have them re-send the update to your unit?

I noticed after the changes took effect my replay time buffer went from ~1:14:00 to 1:22:00. An extra 8 minutes of replay. Has anyone else noticed that? Maybe they beamed some more memory down into our units!

I called them and they said that updates were happening all day, although I did ask them to resend the update to my unit and it worked fine there after.

When I turned my radio on this morning, it was updating again. The play-by-play channels (#160-ish to 180-ish that were there yesterday) are gone and channel 223 also.

I can't see Canadians embracing Sirius Patriot much.

I must say, I am disappointed with one of Sirius's new stations channel 97, Sports Express. The other morning I was listening to it at about 8am. Later on that night, coming home from work, I turned it on to see if the Jays had won their game (this was at about 9:30Pm.) As I was listening to the channel, I realized it was the exact same feed I had listened to earlier that morning and they were still giving scores from the night before!!! What kind of sports channel update is that?! Also, they should add a ticker on the screen instead of the wasted text they have on the screen. I really hope Sirius didn't just add this channel just to add one more Cdn station so they could add more American programming to the lineup. Sirius, I am disappointed :(

Unfortunately, I'm afraid that's exactly what they did.

On a side note, can anyone with a Stiletto on a Canadian sub confirm or deny if Sports Express is available on channel 97 via Wi-Fi? All I know is that it's not available on the recently screwed up channel mapping "update" on US subbed Stilettos.
