I am thinking about getting a refurbished Samsung 40''+ LCD. They are at least 500 dollars lower than FS price. However, it does not have manufacturer's warranty any more. I called the store, the rep told me it is 230 for one year or 250 for two years for warranty.

I would love to have your opinions about refurbished tv. How reliable they are? Do they often run into problem. Shall I buy its warranty for a peace of mind?

Any personal experience would be appreciated! thanks.

FS' regular pricing is not very good - when things go on sale there, they are usually 20% off or more. What is the make/model of the TV? Are there similar models discussed in the HDTV deals section of this forum?

If there is no warranty at all - say 90 Days at least, then I'd walk away, otherwise your price is back up to "regular" pricing...

I would never buy refurbished. I like brand new with warrantee.

Refurb is usually a return or an exchange, which means somebody eles problem.

Or got damaged during shipment. Not worth the savings.

Refurbished could mean problematic.
