Three years to the week that I bought my iMac G5, the power supply issue (http://www.apple.com/support/imac/repairextensionprogram/)has cropped up again.

It also happened last May, so this is the second time for this machine to get a mainboard replacement under Apple's special warranty extension program due to the use of substandard electrolytic caps.

Anybody else suffering through this?

I went through it once last summer, going from no video immediately to no power. The store I took it to had it done in less than a week. Free, of course, but still a bit of a hassle if it's your main computer.

It looks like there is two possible boards that can fail...the power supply board and the main logic board. Last year, it was the PS that blew. This time around it's the main logic board. Hopefully this means that I will be done with this nuisance this time around.

This particular failure is covered by a special three year warranty extension by Apple, and this latest one happened three years and seven days from date of purchase. They covered it all the same.
