Yep, they're gone. They were gone in a lot of places once Rogers went to the "all channels digital" map, but we've had them for a long time. Probably caused some confusion for many people....

These were the analogue equivalents of the digital channels from 1-70 or so. Some people probably had digital only STBs and also wondered why they couldn't get these channels on those STBs while they could on their other STB, so it's probably best they're gone.

Rogers may also have realized that they haven't been blocking some households with the appropriate filters, so people have been tuning to channels that they shouldn't be receiving (since they aren't paying for them) via their STBs (although they could tune them on any analogue (NTSC) tuner equipped device).

This could also be another source of confusion - why does one TV receive channels 1-80 while another with a STB only goes to channel 29 for example. All TVs with STBs will now be the same.

Perhaps when they start getting calls regarding this change, they'll be dispatching the techs to install filters for people who do not subscribe to the full analogue tier, or they'll try to "upsell" people before putting in a filter...

Of course, I could be reading way too much into this, since lots of areas haven't had the 800 channels for a long time and they were simply "turned off" in areas that did still have them.

Until today, we had the 800's in NB. What a surprise I had when I tried to get 804. It took me a few seconds to realise they were gone. I thought it was due to a future remapping or something.

the only analogue channel is 998 (lobby watch channel) channel that i can tune in on my STB. its the only channel i will ever consider needing though.

I haven't checked our listings here yet, but I wonder if this is why both of our cable boxes were remotely rebooted yesterday morning.

EDIT: Yep, the whole 800 range is gone.

Also it has been "rumored" that Rogers may be geting Sat Radio XM? or Sirus? added to the service? Perhaps thats why the '800's have suddenly disappeared,

Also Rogers maybe in the stages of doing a "re-maping of the IPG and maybe using the 800's as part of the new IPG?

Rogers did sign an agreement with XM last year to carry some of their channels on cell, cable, and internet. It's only on cell at the moment.

So then its posible that the '800's may be used for XM Radio then? that is if Rogers decides to add this service to cable?

Where I live in York Region, we have not had the 800s for a few years now. I'm surprised areas still had them.

yup, gone in Toronto. I don't subscribe to channels 29-70 anyway, so it was bound to happen... I'll have to use the analog connection in my TV now, what a pain, but oh well, better than nothing...
